You could always have the colored bits wrapped (like you see cars and buses with ads on them) in virtually any color or pattern you'd like. And the vinyl wrap looks good and comes off easily when you sell the bike if the new owner wants red.

Can't wait.

I want something now so bought a 883 Sportster with 29 miles on it for about $3500 less than the cost of a CB1100. No valves to adjust and about as retro as you can get. Of course I started rideing Sportys back in 1969 and this will be about my 17th one. Speed and accelleration are secondary to me. I just like good looks and dependability. I also have a tremendous dealer close which is important. The CB is beautiful but so is this 883.

Congrats on the 883. They are simple, fun, easy to ride motorcycles. I love my XR1200, but may have to think trade for the CB1100. Spoke with my sales guy and he said the 1100's are on order, but not coming to him until April. Guess I'll see after they arrive if it is more UNIQUE to me, than the XR and worth the trade. dd50

I never was either, but another poster mentioned chopper Hondas, so I posted that for the young ones, that were never into that scene. Other than Harleys, the best looking chops of the 60's/70's were the Triumph twins. Awesome looking engine, in any style frame...

I'm sure there will be someplace in the US that will import those tuner parts from Japan...

If not, find a shop in Japan to sell it to you. I've done this in the past with places in Italy for Ducati parts.

I found a couple of other things.
Firstly, the tire sizes. A 110/80R-18 and a 140/70R-18 will severely limit your tire options. You might even end up buying OEM tires right from your Honda dealer.
The other thing that was quite cool, was Honda Australia lists a black 4 into 2 accessory exhaust for it. Probably the same as the one shown own the Mugen/prototype with the silver fairing. Being right from Honda, I would be afraid to ask the cost.

Can someone explain the "No valves to adjust". I'm not all that mechanically inclined but does the Sportster motor use a different kind of valve or something entirely different?

All of the Harley's run a technologically superior form of engine - the pushrods, air cooled twin. They use the hydraulic pressure from the oil system to keep the lash between the pushrods and the valves in spec automically.

Gas, oil and go with the Harley design. Much superior to those Maintainence intensive jap bikes.
