Nice trail clearing/work

This used to be where the Appalachian Trail ran. They moved the trail to get away from the communications towers. Not sure what year. Everyone that I asked about the Iron Mountain trail pointed me towards Damascus. It's all the same trail! Access this part off Cross Mountain road. I didn't clean up the entrance, so you just blaze through the saplings and brush past the old, open, rusty gate.
I Googled this and found nothing about the history. Some old grey dude on a KLR in Shady Valley told me the story.
Yes, it was a lot of work, all the while knowing this is a bear's path!
