Guns like the Serbu Super Shorty only require a 5.00 tax stamp, they fall under the AOW category.

I have about four more months of waiting to go on mine. Mine is built off the Mossberg 500 platform not the Remmy 870.

You showed up in Canada with that thing, our politically correct, little old ladies who run the country, would toss your sorry ass in the slammer till the second coming! Pretty neat little unit though!

Is it just shotties that fall under the AOW category?

Are there any ... more interesting ... guns in that category?

True enough. Ya got me there!

Jeez, I wonder how many of those my Benelli M2Tactical would hold??? Load on Sunday and shoot all week, as they used to say. I doubt that they'd function the action, however....

My buddy tells me, that the best bear gun is the one you happen to have with you, and not the one you left in your truck, REGARDLESS of calibre. Methinks these are wise words?

wait a second you have a Brown Bear or is it just a Black Bear with brown fur? I was told the last Grizzly (aka Brown Bear) was killed in Colorado in the 1970s! North American Black Bears can have Brown fur believe it or not. Officially there's no Grizzlies south of the Tetons. But we all know how accurate government agencies are.

I grew up in the foothills to the Adirondacks with Black Bears being fairly common. Those things were scared of everything, of course I never got between a mother and her cubs though. In all my experience just the sight of a human or some loud noises would send a black running back into the woods.

I'm thinkin' about swapping my Colt Trooper for a S&W 629 PD, to keep as a camping/hiking gun. I'm not really worried about a bear mauling me, but if there's a hungry pack of Coyotes trying to attack my dog, or a Mt. Lion, I think it'd do the job. Plus it's pretty damn light for a .44 Mag.

You do realize that in Canada you can buy a Dominion Arms Grizzly 12 gauge with an 8.5 barrel and legally take it with you to tea with those same little old ladies, right? Or legally drive around with it on your lap, downtown Toronto, so long as the shells are in the cupholder, on the dash, in your pocket... just not in the mag.
In fact, most little old ladies have no problem with firearms. It's the young City raised liberals.

Yea, it's not a griz, it's a black bear, but he was sort of a reddish black more than black - no biggie, have not seen 'em back here at this house but the neighbor two doors up sees 'em almost every day.

If I go in the woods I wear my .38 special - biggest I have at the moment but enough to scare 'em away. I may find something bigger but for these I think I'm OK, they are far from agressive.
