When were you at Troy State? There was a pretty well known track & field coach there, Nick Costes, who competed in the '56 Olympics. He was apparantly very well-known at Troy as a coach and instructor.

His daughter, Pam, was a pretty good runner also who I met when we were both freshman at Auburn. I was older than the average freshman having done 4 years in the service. To say I was struggling in my first pre-calc/trig class would be an understatement but there were three girls on the front row who always knew the answers and Pam was one of those three. When I noticed that Pam lived in the same apartment complex, I asked her for help.

She agreed but stayed clearly she wasn't doing my homework for me. Her help was invaluable and after about a week and a half, in addition to the three girls who knew all the answers, so did K7, sitting in the back row, with his desk leaned back against the wall.

Good times.

As an electrical engeering major, I had to take a ton o' math classes and I also took a few more as electives. I was no academic star and was lucky to graduate. Instead of "Magna Cum Laude", I graduated "Lordy How Come" but I had almost a 3.0 in math. Not bad for a dumb old country boy with a little help from a friend!
