Popping the Question

Okay....Need advice again.

My girlfriend and I have been dating for almost two years have been talking about marriage...

So, last night she says to me "You know, I would prefer you just get me a bike rather than an expensive engagement ring."....I look at her like she has three heads and all I can say is "Really?".... Then she proceeds to tell me that it must have heated grips and I also have to give up my heated liners to her since I let her wear them all the time now when she's on the back of my bike. I just laugh and tell her that I love her....kind of bear hug her head and we settle in to watch some TV....I'm sitting there realizing that while I was pretty sure she was the one....now I know. (Also, I verified that she meant it tonight by asking some questions so we're good)

Then today...I called the BMW dealership to see about picking up a 2012 R650GS for her. They have a white one in stock but I would prefer to get a red one to match my R1200GSA (what???? I'm buying it!) and they tell me that they think they still have one crated up....I'll find out tomorrow.....and I'll post back

My question:

Popping the questing.....From the girls out there (or guys who can ask your girls)....what about this idea???

I put the bike in the garage...and then I drop to one knee and ask her to marry me....when she opens the box....it's just the garage door opener....then when she opens it....her bike is sitting there????

.....Then I promptly send her away for lessons on some piece of crap Honda Rebel 250 (no offense) that's been dropped 200 times with tapped on turn signals before she even touches the new Beemer........

Your thoughts?????

Thanks,

Josh

This is totally, totally true. It doesn't have to be much, tiny diamonds are cute... but she'll definitely want something to show off to her girlfriends, even if it is from the seat of a hog.

Fantastic Idea!!

In all seriousness make sure you get her a ring!!
Doesn't have to be crazy fancy but you do need something that she can wear that symbolizes your commitment!

Well done and congratulations! These woment are few and far between and I think I'm lucky enough to have found one too.

As the others said, do still get her a ring; she's a girl after all..

+1. Get a ring even if she says she doesn't need one.
She may not have a problem with no ring, but her friends will
"omg, he didn't even get her a ring"...your ears will be ringing

Yep, definitely a ring, just something small. That's awesome!

This. The ring will last longer than the bike.

If you read between the lines, what she really said is that you don't have to get me the $15,000 ring, just a $5,000 ring and a new motorcycle. If you don't get her a descent ring now, you'll end up paying more for YEARS to come

Congratulations!

Thumb Don't know about the ring, but the bike is on the trailer

Josh,
I'm not gonna put my $.02 in about the ring, but congratulations on picking up the bike.
I'm sure she will love it.
If you decide you want them to match perfectly let me know - we have a great painter just up the street that can make them match.
You can call them "Big Enus and Little Enus Burdett" (Smokey and the Bandit reference here).
Have a great weekend and thanks for the business

This is BS, she's getting a ring and a bike. Us guys need to get together with the motorcycle companies and demand engagement motorcycles, we don't get shit.
