I've been looking for a sidecar to play with and this wrecked one came up locally.
What would you pay for it. Body is pretty much done. Frame appears straight with a few exceptions on the mounts. (See pics) ![]() This is the rear mount arm. Looks bent where the paint is flaking off. (I can weld and fab tube a little bit FWIW) ![]() Other mount bolt broken. ![]() Would probably mount up to my KTM 950, maybe the wife's 650 Dakar or even one of the KLR650s if they ever come back home.

This apears to be an early California sidecar with the torrsion suspension. I would run not walk away from this even for free. The suspension was not that great, the body is shot, mounting hardware is shot and when done top $$$ on this sidecar as it opens is still well under $2K

Well it's too late. Sidecars have proven to be insanely hard to find here in Colorado. I've been searching for a few years and all the deals are on either coast and usually gone by the time I get to them.
I bought it for a casual project. The big problem I've found with Sidecars is trying to find one to spend any time with. I so for a few hundred bucks this might be good for at least an introductory ride.

Take the suspension apart. The torsion leaves in these things tend to break over time. Once they do you can lose the whole darn swingarm off the sidecar. Not the makings of a good day.
You have obviously purchased a a sidecar with 'project' in mind. Not a bad thing really but be sure to keep the fact that sidecars carry precious cargos and the thought of safety is always number one. This sidecar obviously has taken an impact. (duh). There are obvious things that are broken. It is the things that are not broken that should be looked over closely. I would not use the struts or clamps you have. Sidecar fever is a malady that most here have. This is not a bad thing at all. However, please do not let your fever to get on the road allow you to cut corners as you work through this project.

Thanks for the tips guys
Keep them coming.Love projects and rarely cut any corners and never where safety is involved. Here are a few of the past projects to give you an idea. Audi motor. ![]() The Speed Triple that started life looking worse than this hack ![]() ![]() ![]() The KTM that *might* get the hack.

I picked this one up out of a guys barn in Commerce City for $500.00 a few years back.
![]() A little work and it turned out like this: ![]() Like they said you really want to keep an eye on those torsion springs and I replace mine every couple of years. I have about 40,000 miles on the rig since I put it together. If you don't want to mess with the body there are always alternatives if get you the frame starightened out:

Yeah, most of the deals I've seen like that are not here. You obviously got the one that was.
![]() I got it stripped down. I'm in no hurry but may toss it back up for sale just in case someone wants to buy it before I finish
