I don't think Dave understands the power of social media and the effect that it can have on a business. Right now, if you Google "Anderwerks", this thread comes up at the top of page two. If this thread keeps alive long enough, it will keep climbing and that will cost him business. So, if you want to help Jim out, reply to this thread, post a link to it somewhere else or better yet let Dave know that you are aware of the thread, are watching it closely and expect him to man up.

Two years ago I sold a 1981 R80G/S to a Calgarian and it was through IBMWR classified....the buyer wanted me to deliver the bike to Anderwerks (I agreed to deliver bike from BC to Alberta as part of sale) so that Dave could evaluate it....which I thought was weird but agreed as I was confident the bike was good and had a LOT of upgrades....and was a fair price $4600 considering everything.
Dave and I had an interesting conversation, he looked at the bike, and I pointed out a few things that needed attention....we agreed on its general condition and he told the guy "Good Deal". I later had Dave tell me the bike was in poor condition and that he had to sell the guy a newer GS airhead.... Maybe true.....but maybe Dave runs his business in mysterious ways. I would not take a bike to him as I think he is a bit of a BSer... The "Crap Bike" : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Other improvements were an improved Brembo system on front with EBC floating rotor ($500)..... Race Tech cartridge emulator and progressive fork springs ($1000 Cal BMW work) as well as what you see in pics....a few grand alone in take-off improvements..... Who knows??????

The guy's a dick.
Met an airhead rider in BC a few years ago who had a story to tell about Anderworks. Left his bike with Dave with instructions "Evaluate the bike and call me with an estimate." Dave called back several months later with the message "Come get your bike. The bill's $XXXX.XX" That's either larceny or extorsion, depending on your point of view. Fuck Anderworks.

Unfortunate
This is an unfortunate incident that the should have and could have been easily resoved. It would seem that Anderwerks are guilty of commiting "ostrich". Burying their heads and ignoring the issue have made this issue worse than should have been.
I don't think that any effort will make this climb on google. It seems one of those internet search specialist people have the first page covered including a one post adv thread from 2003. This thread is the first on the second which I feel shows it's legs. Jdcross i hope it all works out but at this point I doubt it. It will serve as a warning to others though, a small solice. |

Yep....one apple in the box can spoil the whole box. I trust that Dave has done good work, has contributed constructively to the beemerphiles he has served....and has shot at least a toe off with this debacle.
His "learning" from this episode will be demonstrated in future business practices. I hope you step up to the plate, Dave, with future service practices.... ![]()

Yep. As everyone else, I don't know all the details, but my sense is the that OP would be satisfied if Anderwerks took the FD back and completed the work to his satisfaction. Unfortunately for whatever reason Dave has chosen to ignore the OP's issue. As a result, Dave's business is now getting lambasted on a highly viewed forum. The issue isn't that Anderwerks screwed up, but that it failed to address the customers concerns. Even if the OP is off base for whatever reason, a response from dave is warranted. Without the OP having to call via telephone. Quote:

Anderwerks BMW Calgary Buyer Beware is an absolute killer. In all fairness, though, my wife owns a custom window treatments business and I've heard about the dark side of some customers. The small majority are unreasonable and vindictive and basically try to blackmail you to give into their unreasonable demands. One thing for sure is that Dave is guilty of poor customer relations irrespective of whether the OP is as he represents himself here (aggrieved pensioner) or a complete asswipe. Ignoring people's concerns as a small business owner is a sin. And is sounds as if Dave has a pretty sordid past. It also sound like he has admitted fault and has made less than a half-hearted attempt to make good. Hmmm...I now change my mind...RELEASE THE HOUNDS! My worthless opininon would be not to bother making any kind of custom internet thread just to harass someone into following the collectives wishes. There are legal recourses. Vigilantism is passe.

I guess it depends what you mean
by overblown.
I'm not on here to push this thread, but I have an opinon, as we all do, including you. I hope it highlights the quality of service at Dave's (or lack of) so next time someone has an issue in the Calgary area, they are aware of this thread so they don't subject themselves to this type of frustration. I don't travel through Calgary often, but when I do, should I need some beemer service, I won't be stopping at Daves. Lastly, the OP has a legitimate beef that Dave is aware of and is not addressing. This could have all gone away a long time ago for $574.00 There is one person out of pocket $574 at the moment and its the OP and from what I have read he is only posting the facts waiting for Dave to step up.. |
