Can someone confirm they're taking the 4:45 Lake Express ferry from Muskegon? I'm heading out shortly to get some pics and cheer them on with some friends.

They are scheduled to arrive in Milwaukee on the Lake Express at 6:15pm. So it should be the 4:45 ferry.

That was a wrong assumption. Still NS on second day with full miles travelled.

....considering the circumstances, organizers decided to throw out any time penalties the riders would have incurred by arriving more than 45 minutes late at the final checkpoint.

That allowed a full 40 riders to remain on a perfect pace in the competition to win top honors in the 2012 Cannonball. Each of them has now amassed 530 points, one for each mile ridden on the way to awards in each of three classes

Hmm....seems there is a certain premium placed on reliablity, since if you have more than 8 DNFs you are disqualified. Looks like it would be really handy to have a couple of mechanics and a truckload of spare parts at each night's stop so that while the rider slept they could do any teardowns and rebuilds necessary to ensure the bike does not break down the next day. With Doug rolling w/o support crew, it will be a true test of machine and man! Three cheers for Doug

Not too good today.
bike started 1st kick, running perfect. But, theres still water in the mag, and it started cutting out. I pulled the cap and wiped it out, it went ok for awhile, then died again. I was stopped, drying it out, when one of the chase trucks stopped, and said i was running out of time to meet the ferry at 4
And missing the boat is not an option.
I sort of think i could have made it, but i didnt want to get left behind either, as then id be totally screwed. So i will make up for it tomorrow

I am sort of pissed about yesterday tho, as i just read that they did away with the 45 minute checkin window. I didnt know, i could have let the bike cool and rode on in,
i wouldnt have arrived by dark, but i would have arrived on the bike.

As it was, i didnt get there til 10, a guy let me use the extra bed in his room, i went dead at 11, back up at 5the to work on the bike and hit the road at 7
