good news, I know a guy who is a parts guy for old indians. he happens to have a complete top end, austrian repop, brand new, for my bike. he is in NH and tomorrow will express mail them to me in sturgis, SD.
(you dont wanna know how much they cost.....)
he's a good guy tho, and sold them to me at his cost.

I'll have to make sure I dont miss anymore of the free meals on the route, as my budget has just taken quite a wallop.

but, shit happens.

They dont come with pistons, so I will order a set of those tomorrow & have them sent (he didnt have a set) then I will have to hone the cyls to fit. But, I have access to a machine shop in sturgis.

So I should be on the road again soon..... at least I'll be ready for the fun part of the ride, Ive seen enough corn to last me awhile

I broke 15 miles before mason city. I did get there in time for lunch, but most of the riders had gone by then. I did meet someone from adv, but as usual, I forget his name... sorry dude!

Tough luck on the break down Doug... good luck on the fix. Mighta-coulda lent a hand if I had known.

I suppose this means I am gonna need to ride to Alabama to meet you now.

Here's an interview recorded earlier this evening with some of the guys on the #23 BMW team. It's kinda long (25 min) but some may find it interesting. The host mentioned Doug briefly and that he knew him but didn't really get a chance to talk about him. Doug, maybe you can call in next Tuesday and be interviewed, will let Larry know you've got a rather large following.

It's episode 909, skip ahead to the 1:10 mark, is where the Cannonball segment starts.

Thanks for the escort!

as we were heading to HD, a milwaukee 'beauty' pulled along side me and hollered 'hey asshole! get out of the left lane!

I hollered back
'Alright Bitch!'

I got a rather nice look from her. and then I filled her car full of smoke....

Nice meeting you Doug and I hope you are having a blast at the event at the H-D museum. Best wishes for the rest of your journey!

Wow! Complete new top end and Austrian to boot! Here's hoping it runs smooth as a watch and chuffs right into CA along the coast.

Shit does indeed happen, never giving up is worth HUGE points.

Aww hell...just run up the road to the Polaris/Indian factory and tell them you need one of them new-fangled 105ci Power Plus engines for it.

Doug, when you hit L.A. make sure you hit up The Rock Store in Agoura on a Sunday. There is a contingent of Pre-1930 Indian guys that ride their bikes there every Sunday. I'm sure your beers would be paid for.

Have to be positive, Doug is still in the top 50!

All the best for the repairs. Not much fun for you but kinda exciting for those of us following you.

Cheers Jules.

They think it's a different Indian broke down each day...
