Wow, Doug, this is so impressive! Thousands of miles on a historic bike with no backup crew!

Thanks for posting the link to the Cannonball site, too - I was just last weekend riding in Newburgh and now I am spending the weekend riding around Wellsboro: coincidentally, I followed the first day's route. I'll try to make it to the starting point next week to wish you Good Luck in person.

If l don't make it: hope you have a wonderful run!

1st day done, made it to Asheville, NC.
Long day! I am sure once I get in the groove, the days will go better.
This is the first long ride with a left side throttle (had the bike for years, but never travelled on it)
my left hand & wrist is killin me!
Tomorrow to a vintage bike thing in Durham, then to the coast.
Bike is doin good, need to fix an oil leak on top of the trans shifter tower (worn bushing) and need to swap out the front sprocket for a bigger one when I get to NY (a guy is bringing me one)
This is the first time I had a speedo on it. I had no idea how slow it is!
It always FELT like I was going fast....
its doing ok at about 50mph, but Id like to get 55 out of it without revving it too much.
But I dont want it to go too fast, because the brakes SUCK!

Doug

I assume the departure is 8am on friday 9/7, at motorcyclepedia? I'm 10 miles west of there so I'll be there to see the bikes and gear for sure!
