Post your pics of abandoned military places

Here are the rules :

The place must be military related but it should be abandoned from the military. It can be anything built by the military in any country at any time in history : a road, a fort, a radar, a tunnel, a fortification , whatever...

Of course, you must have been there riding your bike !

Fort de Roche Lacroix

Let's begin with the fort of Roche Lacroix in the French Alps.
It was built in the thirties as a part of the Maginot line to defend the alpine passes from an Italian invasion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpine_Line

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouvrage_Roche_Lacroix

The Maginot Line was a complete failure against the Germans in 1940 but the Alpine Line was a great success against the Italians.

The fort seen from the access gravel road.

This cupola could be elavated to discover a 75mm gun.

I am near a machine gun cupola.

These were the buildings where the soldiers lived.

The Entrance. On the left, there is still this small room where you go alone...

The protection from the side.

On the other side of the valley, this is the Saint-Ours bunkers.

You can see it has known fire !

You can understand that it was easy to control the acces to the valley.

The road to leave the fort : "Check your brakes" !

Seen from the valley.

I hope you liked my pics.
OK, let's see your pics now !

Elvis Presley did his basic training here.

A Soldier's Story and Biloxi Blues were filmed here.

This was home to thousands of Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian refugess following the end of the Viet Nam War and Cuban refugees following the Mariel boat lift.

Virtually all of the old barracks were destroyed by a wildfire last year.
