Dr Bean
Just received two more of these. I've already installed two of these on my bikes and I just wanted to have them as backups. I doubt that I'll ever need to use them. Thanks Gerben

Dr Beam Pump
I ordered mine several weeks ago and even though he said he was back ordered for 2 weeks i got mine in less than two weeks shipped to California.
As a surprise my 950Super Enduro has 4k miles and OEM fuel pump points were almost completely gone. I had purchased a safari tank and "decided" to check the points and i was surprised the "ready to race" acrually means ready to repair". With Dr Beam pump it is ready to race:)

Well, the other side of the coin is...my 950 Adventure has 62,000 miles on it now and I've never touched the pump. I'm just doing this as preventive maintenance.

Got mine quickly as well. Had it shipped to my folks in Arizona. My Mom told me on the phone, that a letter from the Netherlands arrived, and it says "sample" on it. Told her it was from Dr. Bean...not to worry

Anybody in the US willing to sell one of these to me, without having to mess with paypal?
Dr_Bean was great to "talk" to about his circuit board, but only transacts with paypal. I don't have paypal, and don't intend to, but have references if that helps. Appreciate any help. thx. |

Dr. Bean kit Observations & Questions
I ordered a Dr. Bean kit a few weeks ago when they were a couple weeks on back order. I actually got the kit in about two weeks, so I'm very impressed with the customer service.
I installed it this afternoon on my SE with a Safari tank, and I have to say, once the pump was on the workbench, the instructions were very clear and installing the kit was a piece of cake. I have a couple questions about the kit though. 1. How does the circuit board work? I'm not really dialed in to electronic stuff, but I think I pretty much understand how the original points set up works, (The original points were shot at less than 10k miles) but I'm truly baffled by how the printed circuit board controls the pump. If the answer is "Magic" then I can accept that. 2. If there are any documented failures of the Dr. Bean modified stock pump I'd like to know about the failure mode. It is a monumental pain in the ass to get to the fuel pump with the Safari tank and I don't even want to think about doing this as a roadside repair. I know some guys with Facet pumps actually carry a spare and can swap it out beside the trail, but I don't see that happening with the stock pump and Safari tank. |

sorry guys:
to get a few things straight: - I make them all myself, as hobby, so in the time I have spare (which is not that much at this time of the year). IF I new that I would sell 250 or so, I could see whether I can have them made somewhere, that would increase the delivery (and maybe even lower the price a bit more). But so far, it has always been a few samples a month. - When finsihed, I send them in order of payments received. Up till now I mostly had them in stock, but since you are asking a lot lately... I run behind a bit. - there are also some local people from e.g. the dutch forum who want it... - The costs are really the cost of the materials: print, parts, coating, testing, shipping, improvements and occasional loss when that happends (no hours laber, I just don't want to run in the minus from it). - I do accept every type of payment, but a bank-transfer from the US simply costs YOU 50 $ or more...: that doesn't matter for me . Therefor pay-pal is basicclay the ony way to do it reasonably. also by far the easiest. If you really want one and don't have paypal: Arrange something with a friend or forum-pal please. If I get too many requests, I'll let you know. At the moment you are counting 250 items.
So you are close to 250 items?
Cheers.

Nope, (really not that big numbers.. why are you so interested, coming from the only non-tax payers country in europe???
![]() ), maybe my english is not perfect: what I ment to say was:IF someone would guarantee that he would buy 250 items from me, then I could go for production. A lot of people ask or shout that they want, but really buying.... Dr_Bean screwed with this post 12-27-2011 at 09:51 AM |
