Looking at IMS' website, $275 seems to about par for all of their tanks of similar capacity. The big capacity tank (4.7g) for the WR-R is ~$400.

JustGasTanks offers free shipping for purchases over $150. The also sell their fuel tanks at a discount from the full retail price. I sent them an email, and they confirmed they will be selling the IMS tank for the CRF250L.

Is it for certain that it will be replacing the OEM tank, only giving a 1 gallon increase or is it 3.1 in addition to the OEM tank? That's what I need, 5 gallon capacity....

Since the fuel pump and other bits are in the tank I would think this is an add on tank.

$275 is a bargain, IMO. I won't even mention how much other extra fuel tanks have cost me on other bikes...
Plus when you factor in the tank will serve as a great Radiator protector, plus protect the other bits on the right side, it's a good price... anything to get heavy fuel off the worst spot possible for handling - on the tail rack, where lightweight camping gear needs to go.

Got the new clutch in hand and putting it back together now.

A 5 gallon tank would be something.

Yes...replaces stock tank for 3.1 gallons total.

The "natural" tanks allow you to view easily the fuel level in the tank.

Incidentally, if anyone is interested, I have two, 2-gallon, RotoPax fuel containers for sale. These containers are new, and have never been used. I was going to use these RotoPax fuel containers for longer trips, but I found a 4.1-gallon fuel tank for one of my bikes, so I don't need the RotoPax containers.

Doubt it. Will the IMS even be out by then? It took them two years to get a tank out for the KLX250S, and it's only 3.0 gallons. I went with the Acerbis 3.7 gal tank because I got it used, even though it's for the pre-09 bikes... it can be made to fit with a little work.

Somebody oughta contact Acerbis and see if they have plans for anything bigger.

That's a bummer, I'll still be getting one ASAP.

I wish it was like the Safari on my Husa that goes on top of the OEM tank. 5 gallons would be perfect, giving us a 225-250 mile range. Exactly what we need to get Lost...
Looks like I'll never get to retire the MSR bags I have.
Oh well, a gallon up front is better than a gallon on the tail, plus the added protection.

the new clutch install went well, I'll update a few things in the post soon.

Tomorrow the LRP goes to Bazzaz to get put on a dyno so they can finally develop their fuel controller for all of us.
I have a Bazzaz controllers on our other bikes, having been the guinea pig for my buddy at the R&D department before and have been very happy with the upgrades.
Looking forward to seeing what they can do with the LRP and having a switch so I can choose between Power and Economy/OEM maps on the fly, like we have on other bikes.

So total noob, only my second post, and this is my first bike. I am totally new to this stuff in general, but I am pretty mechanical having been in the auto repair business for nearly 20 years.

My CRF has about 70 miles on it and I noticed an oil and/or coolant leak today. Its coming from what looks like a weep hole directly underneath the water pump towards the front of the bike from the oil filter housing.

Is this normal? Been riding in cold weather, near freezing. If not what needs to be fixed (I guess it would be warrantied anyway, just curious)

Mine did the same thing early on...had to warranty it at the dealer, they put in a couple new gaskets and seals.
