That looks like too much fun. Oddly, a speedo is not required in Colorado to make a bike street legal.

Beautiful, but I originally bought the GR for $400. I think this build would be out of my budget.

So I went to PMI in Pueblo yesterday and found a great track to ride the GR on. Then I decided to push it down some more technical stuff. I came across an unexpected ditch where I could either hit the brakes hard, and probably have an ungraceful crash, or gas it and jump the ditch. I finally got around to building a skid plate.

I welded some nut to the back of a few tabs which then got welded to the frame as skid plate mounts



I wanted it for the ice races this Sunday so I didn't have time to order 5052. I had to build it out of 6061 diamond plate because that was available locally

It took me about 5 hours to make. It protects the bottom and left side of the engine because that is where I have had issues when dropping the bike.



I'll try and post some pics of it installed some time.

That's a tough one. If you want OEM gauges then check eBay and you probably want to check eBay sites in some European countries as well since this is going to be hard to find.

If you are going to buy an aftermarket speedo they come in different ratios. The GR is 2240:60 (2240 RPM= 60 MPH). I bought a cheap J&P branded speedo from J&P and it never worked well and completely broke in 6 months and they wouldn't replace it, so I don't recommend them. Lots of Harley's are 2240:60 so there are lots of speedos out there that will work.

The last option I can think of is a Trailtech Vapor unit. It permanently mounts to the bike. You will need to glue a magnet to the front tire and clamp a pickup to the forks to run the unit. These are popular for plated dirt bikes.
