Come on guys. I rode to work today in the rain. If it was up here I would pick it up. Get those rain suits out and use the gear you bough for what it supposed to be use for. That way you have a reason to buy more.

I need a waterproof riding suit. The only rain gear I've got is a slightly torn set of Frog Toggs. I've been wearing a pair of arctic lined coveralls, and some 1200g insulated boots for commuting while it's been colder. I'm really ill-equipped for cold, rainy weather.

I would love to get some heated gear, but the budget hasn't been there. What do you use/recommend?

I don't have any heated gear. The trick is to keep your neck warm and dry without sweating, I wear one of these

http://www.jafrum.com/Accessories/Ba...FcU-MgodUC8APQ
with something like this
http://www.skis.com/Turtle-Fur-Micro-Fur-Balaclava-Neck-Warmer-2013/46511P,default,pd.html?src=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term={keyword}&utm_content={adtype}&utm_campaign=product%2Bads&mr:trackingCode=3123B94B-9633-E111-B18D-001B21A69EB0&mr:referralID=NA&mr:adType=pla&mr:ad=12177794961&mr:keyword={keyword}&mr:match={matchtype}&mr:filter=34994443401&gclid=CLHk4dfs_rICFUZgMgodlEMACA

And I just use some camp dry stuff on the rest of the gear, I put on a pair of ski gloves with summer riding gloves (I recently got some insulated waterproof riding gloves) and go! It's not much different then snowmobiling, Oh and I have barkbusters to keep the wind and water off my hands.

BUT! I am a warm person in general, I like to keep my house about 63 degrees when I am allowed to.

Yes I have one only mine is a Schampa . It makes a big difference .

That and heated grips is all I have extra .
I just where lined jeans and sweat pants on cold days , a coat with a zip up hoody .
I do need some wet weather gear though ~ I used to use a nylon coat with silicon spray but the zipper gave out .

I gave away the stupid giant sail hand guards on my klr, and haven't had the budget to replace them with some real hand guards yet. That was the only thing the stock plastic guards were good for, keeping wind and rain off.

I may have to give it another go in the cold with some better gloves.

Quick note to Mid Michigan ADVer's, I'm thinking about ordering a "manual canister" from Agrisupply. I lost my stock tool bag when I installed the cyclerack, so i no longer have a spot to put my tool kit.

The problem is that it costs 5 bucks for the tube, 12 bucks for shipping. I know some of you guys can relate, being KLR riders and all. ;) So, I thought I'd put the word out to you guys that I'd be interested in a "group" order. You can pm me and let me know how many you want, I'll get them and then all of us can split the shipping. You'd just have to pick them up, probably Gladwin. It's a beauty of a ride up here, though.

If you've been living under a rock : Tool Tube?

$10.24 delivered. Probably still too rich for a KLR owner though.......

Does the new guy have a bead on Carsonville? I'm back, but I need to catch some stuff up and get ready to go pick my bike up in Montana next week.

I saw that, but I actually want one of the skinnier ones, plus with 4 or 5 people, it would be way cheaper than 10 bucks a tube.

New bike?

These are manual canisters, not the welding rod holders. These are better, IMO. They have mounting points built in.

New bike?[/QUOTE]

Left the BMW in Missoula. Couldn't get 2 weeks continuous vacation, so I took it in stages.

No ride report yet.

It's awesome. The entire state of Idaho was covered in smoke from the forest fires, and somehow even that was awesome.

I think I'm going to need to head south pretty quick when I get back out there next Saturday.
