Very sad to hear about Kemal passing... My thoughts are with all the family members of both Kemal and the young boy who hit him...

I hadn't met him but everyone who had held him in great respect not only as a rider but as a wonderful person as well. I just found out and I'm shocked, I thought he was bullet-proof (remember his fall on the previous Dakar?) but this comes as a reminder that we are all very fragile on our bikes.

RIP Kemal...

The English version of the Hurryet article gives a different account.

No matter, may they both rest in peace

Wouter Vaarkamp is the dutch rider it seems... He did the Tuareg this year on the bike, his parents doing the race in their toyota pick up...

The family went to Turkey this fall. Wouter riding again on his KTM and his parents in the race.

RIP Wouter..

...

Besides being a superathlete,he was the most positive person I've ever met. And he proved us how a good rider he was with dying by another pilot's throttle, but not his own.

Accident happened about 08:30 near Karapinar / Konya / Turkey and it was on news agents about 10:45.

Kemal Merkit & Mirco Miotto was riding slowly (guessed that they were helping each other for navigation)

Wouter Vaarkamp was riding on his pace and in dust cloud, hit them with all speed; no chance for braking...
