I have no desire for a windshield or understand why you want one... Unless you're about 5'4", you're probably gonna get dirty wind coming off of it.

If I wanted to sit behind a windshield I would be driving my truck.

Is this windscreen thing an old guy preference?

Currently installed items include heated grips, husky windshield, a TKC-80 up front, Terra front end, 12V on the bars, GPS mount, side stand foot enlarger, touratech handguards, and a Moose folding shift lever. I am just waiting on my skid plate and crashbars from Altrider. Planning to log some miles this summer in Appalachia and the East coast once work slows down. Now is the time to buy one. You can farkle till your heart's content and still pay less than MSRP!

Also, even if you are not having overheating issues with your bike check the radiator coolant level! Mine was very low and took a surprising amount of burping and coolant to get it right.
So you got a strada and put a terra front end on it?? For the ABS?

I think riders of all stripes go for shields. No big deal. I'm an old guy ... but I am fine without a shield on my DR650. But on my Vstrom I screwed around for months before getting a quiet shield. Then I crashed in Baja ... and smashed it to bits! Rode home (1400 miles) with temps in the low 40's ... missed the shield on that ride.

When you start riding your Terra cross country ... or even just a quick jaunt down to La Paz, B.C. and back ... in Winter ... then you can talk about how pointless shields are. Or maybe take your Mean Streak down there!

I'm 57 and still ride sportbikes and offroad - don't much care for barn door fairings.

I am not exactly young myself and the first thing I did with my LC4E was ditch the ridiculous Cee Baily windshield that came on it. I have no idea how the PO could stand that thing. All it did was induce terrible helmet buffeting on a bike with otherwise excellent air management. I actually prefer to have solid, clean air at helmet level with a headlight mask that just cuts some of the pressure at chest level.

Yup. If I could have had a Terra with ABS I would have gotten one--why it's not available in the US baffles me. I just thought the ABS was worth the extra $$, never had it on a bike before.

After a few hundred miles I have only used the ABS when purposely testing the limits to see when it will engage. It's one of those things you buy and hope you never use, I guess.

I ride a lot, about 10-12 k a year between my bikes, the shield takes the highway wind, rain, bugs, road debris off of you for the most part. If I'm playing in the dirt all day I'll take it off. And I'm 37 6' so I don't think I'm that old. Just my preference.

I ride my TR an hour to work every day, 25 miles on dirt country roads and 25 miles on pavement. Often the temp is in the high 20's/low 30's. I wear thermals, a jacket and some gloves, and snow pants if the temp gets below 25. Still don't see why a windshield is necessary.

Could you explain the process you went through to get the Terra front end on the Strada? Total aftermarket swap out or what? Thanks. I like the abs idea, have been saved a couple of times by it on other bikes.

The forks are identical. Next just did a fender and tire swap.

If you intend to do a wheel swap, you'll just need to make sure you install the factory ABS ring on the brake disc. Easy peasy.

That would explain it. 50mph average speed for only an hour.

You can call Bills Motorcycles Plus and tell them you want to do a Terra fender on a Strada. it's about $50, they know what you need.
