Kawasaki have sold nearly 19,000 Ninja 250s in Europe, right at the cusp of the 33bhp limit for riders on a restricted licence.

The new system introduces a further step, 33bhp-47bhp, which is where this bike is aimed. 50bhp would punt it over the hedge, legally speaking.

A few 800cc bikes (eg. Tiger) come in at 94bhp in full trim; they can be fitted with a 50% restrictor, right on that 47bhp limit.

Seen a guy on a 33hp FZ1 Fazer..

On topic...I owned a 250 and it was what it was billed to be. A good starter bike. I enjoyed it for what it was and would love to test my skills now on it if I still had it, but as a more experienced rider coming BACK to a smaller displacement bike, the 300 is more appealing.

Also, add me to the "they will sell a metric arse-ton of these things" on looks alone.

A new slot in $ but a pretty big step up in appearance from the 2012 or the CBR near moped look IMO.

As before, it should easily walk from the CBR and appeal to new riders who can't tell it from a 600-1000cc supersport, and from 30' away, I'm not sure many could now judging ONLY from the pics and vids.

Times do change, I got my V-Strom at cost in 2007 and it wasn't much higher than that

Of course, but with modern FI, mapping etc, the new generation of bikes are virtually cost-free to derestrict.

What we (euro) have been missing is a true 250cc-400cc class. Here it is

what's the hp at the rear wheel supposed to be? Sharp looking bike, you can't really tell it's a 300, not much stealth factor.

Or even a 300/325 kit for the 250's?
