Another fellow died yesterday...

G'evening!

This topic goes to the memory of another rider, unknown to me, but not so easily forgotten.
I hope he is no inmate, but he was a rider nonetheless - why should I differentiate?

Being riding with my girl yesterday, slowly cruising around Dresden, Elbsandsteingebirge.

It was the classic.
He overtook us and some kilometer later, he didn't make it in a (in retrospec) pretty easy curve.
Did a lowsider, appearantly.

But he was not in luck, a car came down the curve on the outer lane, which he hit in his slide.
I am so sorry for the cager, which on a sunny Sunday stood their and felt the pulse of the rider, which bleed out of its helmet, face down, slowly dying.

He had not made any fault at all, still for the rest of his life he'll judge himself "if I only would have done this or that...". I'm just glad my helmet camera ran out of energy shortly before I passed the scene.

Well. All in all, of course, this could happen to everyone of us all the time.
We can all die within the minute, no matter what great and experianced riders we are.
If one cannot accept this risk, he is not to ride. Plain and simply.

Thus, what remains to say is REST IN PEACE, unknown fellow rider.
My drink on you today.

And to all you out there:
even your gear can't protect you from every mishap.
ALWAYS drive on sight!
ALWAYS look out for idiots all around you!
ALWAYS keep a considerable margin of grip.
Rather a fingerthick pussystrip, than a wheelchair.

Driving just slighty more on the safe side may make you enjoy the greatness of the Ride a whole lot longer.
