shooting on the hill just wasn't working out to my liking but I took a few. this one serves the purpose of showing the hill and also illustrates what was from my perspective the fact that if there was a guy on a real "MX" bike, and he was hauling ass, he was probably on a KXF. there was a lot of Yamaha's but they seemed to be woods modified YZ's mostly. a fair amount of Honda, and Suzuki seemed to be the least popular, Husqvarna and Berg aside. Of course more KTM's than you could shake a stick at of every size and model.

before long I returned to the 7 mile transponder tent and settled in right behind the uprooted roots and watched the show from very close quarters.

basically I'll post them as I took them, these being one's I've deemed worthy of sharing.

this was a decent shot but on review I noted also it was one of the 150XC's in the event.

he's got a little loft from the large roots which were perfectly straight across their line as they came up the grade. they would provide some drama in the coming laps.

I'd really like to ride one of those 150's...

it was basically like a costume party, much more varied than standard MX for both bikes and riders.

no 2 seemed the same...

this is only 2. sometimes they came up 3 wide, and on rare occasion some attempts at 4!!!

to them this was a place to pass and pass they did. just a hoot to sit and watch.

I'll admit I'd never heard of her but Maria Forsberg was in the event and she wasn't afraid to scratch up the now what I've come to realize was factory plastic.

she's closer to my protection than she looks and trust me she's passing.

Owego Taxi was nice enough to provide taxi service even as far out as the 7 mile mark which I thought was nice.

again this isn't a Justin Barcia whip but it was cool as all get out watching them pass as they all grappled with the grade, the roots, traction, fatigue, and tight spaces. I'd got to another one of these in a heartbeat.

like I said it was somewhat of a costume party and when this clown came by I shouted and kind of scared the shit out of him as he didn't know I was there.

didn't look at all the entrants but a fair amount of Canadians in the girls class's and for the record they were all doing just fine thank you very much (speaking of the girls in general not canadians in specific)

I know what it's like to be 7 miles out and it isn't easy and they forged by every bit as game as the guys.

too many of my pictures don't make it out of the dark in to the light. I'll be at Diamondback MX tomorrow so why not sit some more on a Saturday afternoon and post.

at some point I started panning. a decent shot of M. Forsberg...
