The mods need to chill on that. But it's not my house and it's not my rules. Odd about what you can and cannot talk about in a EBR and "tacticool" thread.

The general rule in any gun thread here is to leave politics and political references out. Because if they don't it inevitably devolves into a bitch/troll fest and slap fight between the the pros and the antis. This way the threads stay open and on topic.

If you need to voice a specific opinion one way or the other CS&M is down the hall.

You mean like facts, and laws, and legality of ownership?

I know what you mean. At this point this whole thread is a political statement.

Is $450 good for a S&W 15-22? I was thinking about getting a .22 for plinking, and saw it at the PX...

The mods need to chill? Do you even know who they are?

I think so. Ammo will be the trick.

ADV doesn't give it's mods a title that's obvious, so you've got see them modding others and remember. I'm not trolling for a finger wave or ban, I like ADV. It's just how things are here. Same with my comment above--not my house, not my rules. I just have to keep in my lane about which gun-topics on the board are politics verboten, that's all. I have no wish to continue a derail on EBRs and tacticoolness.

As for PX, that's a fair price. I doubt their pricing structure allows for max-profits (gouging) just as it doesn't always allow for lowest-price possible. The reports on the M&P 15-22 that I've read have been generall positive as well. I have a .22 LR conversion for my standard upper, but I think the dedicated .22 is a better option given the potential for leading gas tubes (and that the twist rate and bore diameter isn't right either).

I've been knocking around turning my 16" upper into a dedicated .22 upper (ie, tube fouling be damned) which *could* be used as a backup .223/5.56 upper. This would then allow me to justify getting a 14.5" upper with permanent FH.

You won't find a 15-22 any cheaper then that. Walmart sells them for $449. I love mine but like they said ammo is tough to come by in the current market.

+1 22lr is hard to get, its available on the net, but prices are a joke, 40-50 cents for decent ammo to run a semi -auto. A few months ago I was geting cci minis for $6 per hundred, now they are in the 45-50 dollar range. If I could go back in time and buy a million 22lr I'd be rich.

I just picked up 2k rounds at .09/round so it's out there but you need to get lucky and be persistent.

I looked into a 15-22. They are nice, but I've decided to build my own with a .22 upper. The parts are out there and with decent prices if you look. $450 is a good price. Probably doesn't have the threaded barrel if that matters to you.

I picked up 2800 rounds of .22 locally for $125 a month ago. I havent touched it yet, but its there and ready for me. .223 is $7 for a box of 20 where I buy my ammo. It's almost always in stock but they only allow you to purchase one box at a time.

I've got about 7k for 5 cents/round since January, around 4k more on the way. Sorry, I think I may have been the one that caused the shortage
