Simple version

Started to read this entire thread and think my eyes qlazed over at about page 4 - am not tech savy - have no blue tooth anything and probaly never will. Positive I will never have some fancy phone and wondering if you will have a dumb manual version for guys like me. I like the idea of power management as I have a power limited bike (XC-W) and would like to run some heated gear and control LED headlights and LED dash lights. I intended to order a Rowe Electronics unit this week when I saw this thread - I really would prefer to help an inmate

Is this a good time to mention that two of the fuse mounts in my fuseblock vibrated off last week?

You will be happy to be done with fuses then. The 8 channel board has none and is both water and vibration proof. We are still ways out on this project, but we are making progress. Designing and building gizmos in your spare time is not a super fast process.

Software work is slow enough, doing EE work is even worse. Hats off to you!

Software work is an order of magnitude faster. I got new boards from China yesterday. Then I realized that I didn't have 3 of the 60 parts in the bill of materials. Order is in and again I wait. The box from China shipped over night and took 10 days to get here spending several days in customs along the way...

It isn't fast, but it is really satisfying.

Awesome! I'd be totally in to something like this. Just about to install lights and an Eastern Beaver fuseblock next week. I'd much rather be testing yours.
I saw a guitar on the wall. I'll trade you guitar lessons for life for one!

We are a bit of ways off still. I've got all the important parts figured out now, but there is still a lot of firmware and software to write and vet. It's getting to the point where I need to start investing significant amounts of capital. This is about the point where projects fail, so wish me luck.

Software Update

The software is moving right along and things are looking pretty good. It looks like we are going to do a Kickstarter to get this thing off the ground. Discussions are ongoing but we are aiming at a minimum of 200 units @ $225 to see it go through. 200 units at that price leaves no profit line to speak of, but it will allow us to get the product out there and tested. There will be yield issues I am sure so we will hopefully have enough money make 250 for every 200 ordered in case some do not work after they are assembled. Machines will be used to assemble them but they are not perfect. We will test all the units after they are assembled and against after they are encapsulated to confirm they are in working order before we ship them.

Kickstarter is perfect for this!

Just let us know when you have the project in place and I, for one, will head right over.
