My Thruxton goes by Genevieve. She's a right proper British bike so figured I'd give her a French name.

I have been toying with calling my 05 Sprint "Silver" which is it's color. Alas, the "Hi Ho" carp annoys me to no end. So. My thought is to call it "Silver" with a kind of sub-title, "The Special (most exciting?) Shade of Gray". Or something along that line. It is often a delicate and time consuming process to find a great and proper name for a bike.

The Goldwing is "the Goldwing"
The Nighthawk, "the Nighthawk"

The other two came prenamed,

300EXC is "Butterscotch", cause of the early KTM color
The CX500 Project is "Willis" cause that's what's painted on one of the sidecovers.

"The bike" , maybe on a good day "The DL"

It's such a good bike I don't have to synthesise emotional attachments to cover up the downsides of owning it.

(Leave that to the Euro crowd)

Don't have to name mine - they're color coded.

There is a red one that's not pictured and its an XR80 so it has been known as the "Little Red One"

Formally - my motorcycle

Informally - my bike

Occasionally - the effing heap of shit

I have not had occasion to use the last for many years now. I discovered unreliability is more a reflection on the owner's lack of attention to routine maintenance, than inherent in most machines.
