Riding from CA in December, need advice

Hey ADV,

Im generally into figuring out things for myself, but all your guys are so much more experienced than I am so I thought I should ask.

Winter break off at Sacramento State University CA, and I want to go on a two week trip in December, got my F800GS, Knobbies, some heated gear, and I was looking to get input on where I could make it and back that isn't totally covered in snow.

or maybe just at least a good link to a site with weather statistics thats easy to use?

Sorry for the noob question, im not a total noob, 6,000 till the warranty is toast

Thank you so much for any replies!

Heres some random pre-crashbars/upgrade pics for enjoyment

South on 99 to Bakersfield, east on 58 to Barstow,North east to Baker, north to Death Valley.Lots of riding there with history to go with it.Anywhere in the mojave desert there are dirt roads all over.like the back way into Death Valley through Trona.Long dirt roads run under the power lines. You can put together all kinds of dirt roads out there.Watch out for crazy socal off roaders around california city if you run any dirt out there.Meeting up with baja race trucks isnt fun.

Temperature Maps

There are lots of sources for temperature maps that will help you. Like here http://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/thema...e-january.html

Anyway. Go south and stay at low elevation. Should be marvelous.

Elevation affects weather more than latitude.

Temps will either be 90 or 9. If it's raining in Phoenix, it's snowing in the mountains.
