How to attach GPX files outside of Layin Down Tracks

I have tried to search for this anwer - but was unsuccessful.

I would like to attach the GPX file (as uploaded in the LDT section - see attached link http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=19667942#post19667942 ) to the ride thread’s first post - see link

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822082

However, it appears that I am not authorized to post attachments - How do I accomplish this?

thanks,
Loose Nut

I don't think you can. AFAIK. This was a change a while back where the ability to attach files (such as JPG) was removed from most forums but the ability to attach GPX was retained for just Laying Down Tracks.

You can post the tracks in Laying down tracks and then hotlink them in the ride report exactly as you do for photos.

Thanks - i have done that already - for several rides, the gpx files were (I believe) actually attached in the ride thread - I was hoping to be able to do that also. Thanks again for your reply

but isn't that a double posting, or a cross-posting?
and aren't we trying to avoid that? isn't it prohibited?
Let's add gpx attachments to Regional forums.

Not double posting at all.

Posting up the track in laying down tracks is where many users expect to find things. Presumably, the regional post would be more than just the track, like maybe a ride report or an invitation to ride.

Having tracks all in one place makes searching for tracks from different parts of the country much easier. A one-stop-shop, so to speak.
