That Glenrothes has a sunday evening feel to it, I think.

Something to look forward to this evening.

Bit of a pointless venture anyway. I doubt if any of these specific bottles will be around then. But maybe some others will.

I'm just showing off really. It is nothing but gratuitous attention getting. I am so bloody shallow.

But it's good to know you all love me - or at least my scotch collection, and really that's good enough.

You bring both and the love will flow.

Until the bottles of love are empty, anyway.

Funny you should mention memory. If I do a tour of this stuff, that's one thing that eludes me.

How is that Dalmore Cigar Malt? Dalmore is my go-to fave, but never seen that one.

It's been a while since I tried it. I tell you what, I'll sample it tonight and review it.

I really enjoyed the Glenrothes ( a 20 year old). It's my current fave.

HA! The malt house lists Johnnie Walker. I have JW gold and black, but not red. Maybe I should have included my blends as well - I only have a few though.

Well, alrighty.

The Cigar malt (it is apparently a single malt, but they don't say the age - unusual) has the same smooth finish of the "regular" Dalmore. (I am comparing it to the 12 year old), and similar light flavourings, but it is somehow a little more rich, with almost slightly sweet overtones in it. It reminds me of dark caramel and vanilla.

It warms with the same sensation as a brandy. I can see why people would have this with cigars, although I myself do not partake of the smoke - except in barbeque.

That's what I reckon anyway. This is a lot more thorough than my usual tasting reviews which usually end in "it's really nice" or "I like it I think it's good".

To be honest your best bet is to come over and try it.

OK - so that was my attempt at rating it, here is from a more "trusted" source

Quote:

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Palate: Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Finish: Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
Overall: Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.

I think I did alright.

SOLD!

As much as I love scotch and would probably give up evey other booze in the world if I had to choose one, I would be laughed out of a room of connoisseurs if I tried to review the notes and finishes. I know what I like, how I like it, when I like it. I will make it my new quest to track that one (or you) down.
