For those of us that don't have the owners manual in front of them (it is at home, I am at work), what is the spec? Also for a newbie who has only had the 800xc ABS for two weeks, what is so special about this engine that it requires special oil? I hope to be at the 600 mile mark by the end of this weekend, so legitimate questions. I'll probably take it to the dealer to have the first oil change when they install the heated grips, but curious anyway.

Funny, my service manager said they ship with Synthetic.

I may stay with Mobile1 as I have with all prior bikes. It's available everywhere around here.

I went ahead and purchased 10W-50 Castrol 4T Racing oil from motorcycle superstore for $12.99 per quart. Free shipping as I went ahead and bought 8 quarts.

Not bad with the free shipping. Have you used other synthetic oils on other bikes?
