Never mind that question. Maybe I'll bring along a section of flexible rubber hose that I can put on the end of the air intake. I suppose that means I should seal the air box, too. And then there are ventilation holes that should be looked at. This could be a [fun] little project.

Wink Top Gear

So for this years RR I think it might be mandatory to watch the Top Gear Vietnam episode.

By dusk, the exhausted trio had arrived at the wharf in Hạ Long, only to be given one final challenge: to navigate the maze of 1,969 limestone islets in Hạ Long Bay and get to Ba Hàng Bar, located in a cove somewhere in the waters, by converting their motorcycles into watercraft overnight. Upon setting off the next morning, May's craft nearly sank early on and was towed back to shore for repairs. Meanwhile, Hammond and Clarkson got lost and found themselves stuck in the mouth of a cave. Eventually, Clarkson reached their destination first, Hammond second (after his steering had failed), and May later joined them by swimming from where his "bike-ski" had disintegrated and started to sink for the second time. In the film's conclusion, Clarkson summed up their adventure and ended with, "It's hard to sum it up really. Perhaps that's why people when they get back from this country always say the same thing, Vietnam: You don't know, man! You weren't there!"

Might be a good back up plan

$500 will buy more than enough gas to get the KLR to Cabo and back. The Baja would be real nice right about now too. Sand, beach, taquilla

Bad enough that I can get roundtrip tix to San Jose Del Cabo for $504/ person, taxes included, right now...

You might as well just post the thread link here. I suspect you have more than a few people thinking about it now

I remember that one. Seems to me they sank a few of them too.

the hammer run is a two day dual-sport put on by the tri-county sportsman. it is two days of southern nj riding in the 'sand'. it isn't beach sand - more a sand/dirt loamy mix that afford excellent traction. the two days are usually fast except the sections of tighter woods stuff - unless that is your thing. the fire cuts are the real treat to the hammer run in my opinion - 2-3ft deep ditches shaped like a half-pipe that run for miles through the woods. each day is roughly 75 to 80 miles.

the PB300 is the second south nj event that isn't a race. inmate jack splash usually organizes this and it's two days of riding through the Pine Barrens National Forest and other forests close by. unlike the hammer run it does not include single track nor fire cuts (usually) and is geared towards bigger bikes and uses public roads through the region. the sand here is more traditionally what you'd expect to find when you say 'sand'. there isn't anything difficult about this ride unless you are new to riding sand. there usually is at least one section where the sand is fairly deep and jack often suggests go arounds for those riding the bigger bikes. i have never seen the need to.

the last southern nj event is the meteor run. it came back this year. it is another two day event and i've only done it once (the first year i got my f800 and it was my first dual-sport event ever). it was definitely geared towards smaller dual-sport bikes. i didn't do it this year.

ok this is the RR 2013 thread - enough of those other events. is it June yet? the first couple of hours of day one sound fabulous.

dont toy with my heart!

We've sort of expanded, anyway, and may even be a rallymoto team, but regardless, it would be a pleasure. Looks like we've picked up JJ and Ryan S, also. We've almost got a whole battalion, and can break it down to company and squad divisions if need be.
