What you will need to do to your GSA...

... is to trade it in on a KTM!

Keep a fancy BMW spark plug wrench handy...or a second hand KLR might be cheaper.

Ok...

So, I have a GSA as well. As far as water is concerned the intake snorkel is the only big problem as it is relatively low and hidden behind the tank. Other than that, make sure you have really good tires, like at least newish TKCs.

I bought a nice used KTM 640 for this ride (and other more gnarly adventures) because, to be blunt, the 1200 GSA just isn't the right tool.

YMMV

ini88 is very artistic.

Can we make a smaller sticker this year?

Fair enough...

The day I brought it home and a few days later with new skins (D606's).

http://280racer.smugmug.com/Motorcyc...4580&k=hfbmNRX

It now has a small rack on the back, a Giant Loop for luggage, an oil change, and soon a new rear sprocket and steering bearings. 2002 with 6500 miles. Found it cheap in the Finger Lakes region of NY.

This is why we thought it would be a good idea to use the team concept this year. Always nice to have some help getting unstuck!

Walk ALL water crossings first. If it's too deep for your bike....don't cross it

GS's have a low air intake...

YMMV
Showing up without knobby tires would be considered showing up with an inappropriate bike....meaning you won't pass tech check in...meaning "no ride for you"

The rest of them were smarter than me...or learned from me

The right side was only a few inches deep.
