I'm on my third strom, sold my first, a 2006 DL1000 with around 23k to get a 2008 DL650 that I wrecked at 12k, which I replaced with a 2006 dl650 that is now just shy of 20k.

Best all around bike I've ever owned.

99,800-something. No problems.

EDIT: I take that back. There was a thermostat issue. Somewhat fixed now.

I'm approaching 24K miles on my /09 ABS model. I've owned it almost two years. It has done very well for me. I use it for long distance touring and camping trips. Am planning on up-grading the suspension, checking the valves and changing to new sprockets and chain this winter. Gives me something to do when it is cold outside and I can't ride.

'06 DL650 with 43k miles on it.

Never had a problem with it. Usual wear and tear stuff, just changed front brake pads for the first time, new battery this summer, stuff like that.

I checked my valves at 19,200 and all of them were tight....some out of spec but all needed adjustment

How do you ride the bike? Heavy throttle, high rpm? Or relaxed easy low rpm riding?

Thanks
Richard

Bought my 2007 DL 650 new and it now has 46k miles. Had same headlight/starter switch issue and rubbed through harness under tank. Other than that, it has been general maintenance. Love this bike.

My 2007 DL650A is approaching 74,000 miles. The stock headlight wiring is a weak link. I had an Eastern Beaver headlight relay kit for a long time before going to HID lights that also are relay controlled. It's a lot easier on the stock system to turn on a relay rather than a headlight.

2007 DL650 with 13,750 miles. Bought with 8K this spring. No problems so far- just replacement tires & routine maintenance. My Eastern Beaver dual headlight relay kit just shipped today. Thanks for the heads-up on this weak link item, Greywolf!

Had a 2007 650 that I owned for all of 6 months. But I did put 24,000 miles on it in that time !

3 sets of tyres, two sets of brake pads, one air filter, three oil changes and one chain & sprocket set (but it did not really need it). Valves checked Just before sale and all OK.

Looking to buy a 2012 Wee soon ...............

'04 with 86k here, 5k of which are mine. The PO (hi Austin!) fried the clutch pretending it was a KLR and had to adjust the valves a couple times. Otherwise no issues, and no evil headlight wiring through the starter switch on the '04. It burns somewhere around 250mL of oil between changes. Wish I could get my 21k mile KLR to do that.
