My CJ is around 12 on the street.

304 V8. 32" tires. 3.73 gears. Not too good considering it is at least 1000# lighter than my new JKU

Not an automotive engineer. Just someone who has a deep passion for anything and everything automotive. Particularly Jeeps.

That's great mileage for a Jeep, curious to see how the 3.6L does in the MPG department though now that real world figures should be pouring in. Seems like it's averaging around 20mpg.

I get 20mpg out of my JKU 3.6 Sport with grocery getter axles, steel wheels and AT tires and 6-speed. I drive mostly highway two lane and multi-lane. The computer averages over 21mpg and has been as high as 21.9 but it's always 20mpg in the real world.

I have had it one year on March, 1 and it has 26,500 miles.

Ive always thought a small diesel was the perfect motor for a Jeep. In fact Im still temped to buy a pre-smog Jeep here in CA and somehow find a way to use one of these VW Direct Injection 2.0 diesels. Very light, very compact and 250 ft.lbs of torque....

My customs process is dragging on...it's always a "maybe today" situation. I sure could use the Jeep about now.

we've had steady rain yesterday, last night, and today. Driving into work I hit the brakes and a few drops of water fell down on the dash just above the radio

Check the freedom panel fasteners. Mine were not tight from the factory.

My first couple tanks were in the 17.5 range. Last tank was 18.5. Mixed freeway and around town.

I'm thinking the Rubis aren't doing as well as their siblings. Makes sense though. Lower gears and more aggressive tires
