And one more thing...
I'd hate to see you take the Dakar up there and tear it up. Too nice of bike for that.

Videos
Here's a link to my wife and I's Youtube Channel. I will be uploading more videos (unedited and without music) over the next couple days when I find a few xtra minutes here and there. I hear that the terrain around the lakes changes pretty drastically with the seasons and amount of traffic so will be interesting to check back on different spots.

We'll ride again, no doubt....
Want to plan on riding High Lakes next July? Probably won't be accessible much longer this year.

I'm definitely in for this ride you're thinking of next July...I haven't ridden nearly enough this year, partly because of my lower back issues and partly because the fishing has been so damn good down here. I still want to ride Lassen and up to Crater Lake as well...Hmmmm....
Nice ride guys, those rocks look like a lot of fun...It almost reminds me of Hancock Pass eh Brien??

[QUOTE=BanhXeo;19717288]For those of you not familiar with the High Lakes area here in Northern California, they are due east of Philbrook Lake, perched between Highways 32 and 70...
Thanks for sharing BanhXeo! Nice! Great to see you riding the 230!- |

All you have to do is get up here...

Yeah, but I do a lot better in the rocks now, even for an old fart.

This ought to be good, I'll have to ride sweep since I won't be able to keep up with you guys. He rides a Husky TE610 and a better rider than I. 12 years my junior.

rocks
I have become busy for a bit but am looking at going on the 20th. I need to know how easy it is to get to those rocks. How far and if motorhomes can make it. it looks like a good spot to ride or maybe even hold a trials event there.
If any other people know of good rocky spots keep me posted. I ride Trials so I am always looking for rocks, smooth ones not the volcanic stuff as I can not afford new tires every time I ride. |

Hold on,
A lot of private property in the area and very strict about staying on the established trails. Mess it up and this area could very easily be shut down. From what I've read on line regarding this area, "The Friends of the High Lakes" had to fight to keep this open and thereby got it designated as an OHV area. DON'T ABUSE IT PLEASE!!! Enjoy it As for an actual "event" up there, ??? as for motorhome access, you're asking the wrong person. I'm not an advocate of a motorhome going off-road in any stretch of the imagination. Take your Dakar up for a ride to the sign board and make that decision for yourself. After that a lot more will become clear. For the rocks, at the sign board turn right and it takes you into the High Lakes OHV area. The sign board shows the private area, Even a couple of the lakes are private.
