The bike has upside down adjustable forks and radially mounted brakes.

I think fuel economy will be significantly better than on the previous DL1000, based on the simple fact, that it is Euro-2, and this one most likely will be built to comply to the Euro-4. There was a noticeable difference already on the 650 between Euro-2 and Euro-3 (between 2006 & 2007 models).
Those are emission norms, but they have an affect on fuel consumption as well. |

After talking to some major repairers and insurance companies regards another popular ADV bike, It's not my favorite option BUT at least the sub frame separates so the hangers are legally able to be welded back on. Unfortunately most insurance companies just specify new sub frame because that's the part that is broke. None of this is a real issue for people that don't mind a bit of a weld and rattle can job assuming the bent part is salvageable which often it is.

just noticed how far that front fender wraps around the tire to protect the bike.
it's like a fender extender is already on the bike. has to be one of the best factory tire coverages going.

too bad about the 17" front wheel....
... a 19 at least shows some pretense of offroad-ability, even if it is only fireroads... more ds tire choices as welltoo bad they couldn't stuff the 1000 into the 650 frame... i'll withhold judgement on the looks until i see it in person... pics rarely do a bike justice...

Sigh .....
So much potential and time to get it right. Now another street bike. Jack it up a few inches an dump some of the plastic. Great motor looking for a home... And protection. Please find some way to reasonably add a bash plate, and rase the fender so the TKC's won't rip it off at the first sign of mud (if by chance fitted). That muffler could be raised up a tad as well. New non piano wire bars. How much can that cost ? Traded in my beloved Pedro for a GSA, but still have a soft spot for the big DL. Once I retire, I would truly love to build a 1000 based machine. Some inmate did a great job on a rebuild (red with a single headlight and some bed liner tank protection that I cannot link to post). Kudos to him. ADV version ? Throw us a bone. ![]() Best of luck Suzuki. Logan

What that exactly translates to remains to be seen, but that was apparently the ambition. It's actually growing on me. The beak is still multistrada-ugly and would probably need to be cut off, but with a white scheme I think it could look real nice. I do like curves more than edges though, so I would still prefer the revamped-650-style to this.

I like the way you think. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they go the way Triumph did with the 800. A street version along with the 800XC for the more adventurous souls. |
