Oh my gosh, another awesome ride report. I'm gonna mark this and go through it all, but not right away, I've got my hands full right now with the ones I'm trying to get time to keep up with.

Thank you for the pointer to the story. That is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - what an incredible sense of comradery! I'm floored!

Hi ONandOFF,

You have got to read rtwpaul's stories. That's a damn fine ride report. And great photo skills. Definitely up there with the best I'd say.

Saludos,
Juanito

Holy cow, Juan. I just started reading this thread in the morning. Read at work between damage control and just got caught up. Wow!

Great ride report.....

I guess I'll just have to admit that I'm too far gone to make a trip like this so it's got to be taken from my recliner.....there's times I could be right there though, since it's described so well.

Thanks for taking the time to do this as it's a great RR..

The North American work ethic... Just kidding; BTDT.

What really does have me though is reading the whole thread in one day I mean that's what it appears to say, from start to caught up in the same day. I have been reading for weeks - I bet I have over 40 hours in this one report, I'm now at page 45 from the beginning, but have also been following the tail end as it develops, the best I can. So right now I'm following him around Colombia and around Mexico - fascinating! If I could pick anyone to ride around with, discovering stuff, cuttin' up, and raising dust, it's be JD.

Right on. Maybe that's why it takes me some time to travel through it. It's close to riding along with him in my imagination.

I concur with your observation. There's a senorita de Chile working at the ski hill here, who digs motos and owns one. I know it's small by North American standards, but she digs that I own a moto too. I'm old enough to be her abuelo, but it's kool to find a connection, and to practice some Espanol.

John to take pictures of folks that you don't want to think you are weird or whatever, just take the picture from the waist, or anywhere without putting it up to your eye, no one thinks you are shooting unless you look through the camera, from a photography class assignment in the early 70's we had to put tape over the eyepiece,on our 35 mm cameras and photograph downtown San Diego, I got some great shots, because no one knew I was shooting and so didn't pose, i use this method all the time

Wow

Hello John, just want to say that your trip is inspiring. Your attitude and courage is just amazing. When I started reading your posts I was sort of thinking of getting another bike after years of not having one, your images of freedom that it brings made up my mind. In a few years when the kids are on their own I might just follow you. Keep going and don't look back.
