Hola Ricardo,

Good to know about ENVIOS. I need some small parts about now. As well as some big parts. Should be in Medellin tomorrow. Thanks for all you've done. I owe you big time. Look forward to getting lost in Medellin. Some people have a hard time leaving once they get there I hear.

Muchas gracias amigo,
Juan Mechanico

Hi Mario33,

I'll do my best to keep you entertained this winter. Lots of Polish settlers homesteaded in Nebraska. Known as hard working, tough and resourceful. I have to visit Poland some day. It sounds like my kind of place. Preferably in September.

Saludos,
Juanito

Hola trululu96,

I hope to get to Medellin by tomorrow evening. But you know how these things are. It depends on when the truck comes. If the driver is a retired bus driver I might get there pretty darn fast. But if the truck breaks down it might take a while.

I am heading over to the Calasanz area near Metro Estacion La Floresta to a parking garage near Señor Trespalacio's Dad's house where I can work on the bike.

I have your number and will give you a call. I look forward to meeting you mi amigo de doscientos cinquenta.

I get a good feeling about Medellin even from 330 kilometers away.

Saludos,
Juanito

You need to keep slowoldguy company down in Mexico. You've been working too hard Señor Schizz. Time to head out on the highway.

Glad to have you along for the ride.

Just got back Tuesday from a 17 day loop through Mexico and I'm jonesin' to get back even if it's only to accompany SOG and his nephews 2 days in. Dang, those young'uns can RIDE!!

When I retire it's my plan to travel more in your mode: on the cheap. You and rtwpaul are my mentors these days.

Ride on, Juanito!

My thoughts exactly. Get out of the grind and enjoy some real life, better sooner rather than later.

It's Wednesday morning 9AM and I'm still watching the world go by in Turbo waiting for a truck to take the Sherpa to Medellin. I'm getting very good at people watching. Along with improving my Spanish mechanical vocabulary.

Mis botellas de escopias se quebradas= my fork lowers are broken

mi eje es mierda= my axle is shit

¿Cuánto cuesta un frontal usado?= how much for a used front end?

I don't really care when I get to Medellin, so the truck will probably come shortly. If I really was pressed for time it would take two weeks. In Latin America there seems to be an inverse relationship on how long things take. It has to do with the square root of the time you have available divided by your expectations. I'm still working on the formula.

more later…..

That's some great wisdom right there. Another thing I found is that in Latin America, you can only plan to do one thing per day. If you plan to do 2 things, you are pretty much screwed.

Suerte amigo. I'm sure you can get everything sorted in Medellin.

Salud, Vin

Hola Vin,

Glad you are still following along. And yes you are right. One thing a day is the limit. If I can get the bike to Medellin my job is done for today.

Saludos,
Juanito

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

IN LATIN AMERICA IT'S A NECCESSITY!

TWO THINGS A DAY!? YOU'LL BE VERY LATE FOR THE SECOND THING!

NO WONDER THEY EAT DINNER LATE, IT'S TAKES THAT LONG TO GET AROUND TO IT!

The first camionero (truckdriver) never showed this morning, so the dueño de hospedaje ( guesthouse owner) found another solution. It involved me pushing the bike across town to Sotrauraba transportation. I am sure glad I went to the aduana day before yesterday, because as I rounded the corner pushing the bike down the street, sure enough there was an aduana check of my papeles (papers). This guy at Residencias Florida is the bomb. He has my back.

So it looks like I'll be leaving at 5PM for Medellin. We'll see. Christina, the hot administradora over at the trucking place seemed optimistic. I will head over there at 4:30 temprano (early) and take my bags and laptop. I look forward to the ride up to Medellin. It looks like rain for a few days up there in the montañas. Perfect weather for tearing apart the Sherpa.

I have been busy getting up to speed on the currency valuations in Colombia this afternoon watching El Precio es Correcto (The Price is Right) on the TV here. 38,000 pesos for a crockpot seems high to me. And 192,000 for a fridge. Sheesh. I'll take a strofoam cooler con hielo ( with ice) Señor.

more later…..

Hi Tuckers,

You dog. My camera is packed away with my cables for hooking up to the laptop. And yes, she is a sweet figment of my imagination.

Saludos,
Juan Turbo

It's 4:30PM and I'm walking over to the trucking company to load up the Sherpa and head out to Medellin. I hope we have a flat tire so I don't get to the big city at 3AM.

Su hermano de aventura,
Juanito

It took me a few times to figure out not trying to get shit done during siesta.

If you don't get that one thing done before noon you might as well start drinking.

Keep on keepin on John, you have the right attitude, this stuff is all part of the experience.
