Yep sounds about right... they should be down to the flood plain, where they make the turn to the (slight north of) east to pick up the track that follow oued ziz back up towards Ouzina/Taouz...

CP1 is the southernmost point of the SS.

Helder is the first to make the turn at CP1/ Remlia (furthest point south on the map) and now to follow the sandy fast tracks along the oued ziz (dry river)
