Yip that orange line is also not very precise, it shows the route going through mountains and stuff. But you can see the bikes stringing along the real route rather nicely.

Wish they would do something like this for the Dakar. Doubt they will though they need to control the crowds somehow.

I see the riding is fast tracks with fesh fesh and a little later a couple of biggish dunes fields with maybe a few hundred dunes to negotiate.

And Helder a close 3rd.

Seeing they started 2 minutes apart it looks like Despres has the lead.

Yep... in a while they will cut straight through the little "dune desert" of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga... although a relatively small and concentrated area, it has som big 50 meter plus dunes and heaps of fun stuff in there...

The rest of the stage is fast, dusty/stony terrain... littered with dry river beds gutters and gullies...

If you press "rank" Bb... the table shows them according to corrected time" (and time differences)... in the "hour" mode it shows the chronological order they pass the CP

Nice little navigation trick here. They are coming from left to right and if they dont go up the river bed for a bit they will end up on the wrong side of the mountain....

Damn just a little bit slower than Coma.

Its interesting Despres has a lead of 1.5 minutes on Coma, so he must have made a navigation error again I suppose....

Aussie it will be interesting to see where sam comes in.
