Crashed WR250X

This was a few months ago....about 5 minutes into the day's ride with some buddies, I was testing out my new suspension on a make-shift MX track we found out in the boonies. Without realizing I was heading straight for a huge gap jump with not nearly enough speed to make it, I attempted to abort but it was too late. I went down the steep slope, forks bottomed out, and I went over the bars into the sand....hard, face first.

Missed a few days of work, dislocated my collar bone, bruised ribs, and bruised almost every organ inside my torso. Spent several weeks in real pain but no permanent injuries. Minor concussion.

If you listen carefully, you'll notice I had the wind knocked out of me pretty good, not able to breath for nearly 30 seconds after impact....seemed like an eternity and I remember feeling like I was on the point of passing out because I couldn't get air into my lungs.

Glad you're okay, but you should always preride a lap or two around a track at slow speeds and check out the doubles before really riding around it.

Looks like the WR250X is a little snappier than the KLX250 I had.
I started hurting when I heard you fall..OUCH.

That is basically what happened to me on my DRZ when we went to a supermoto ride local, I didn't know what I was going into and I didn't have the speed and I was out of breath for 2-3 minutes and I was in some pain for a month or so.

Been there, done that, sucks. Last time I did it was water skiing --- it's pretty panic-inducing when it happens in the water.

Having the wind knocked out of you is basically a cramp or spasm in the diaphragm. The trick to stretch your diaphragm and it will release. Reach behind you, grab your heels and arch your belly forward, and bingo, it releases.

Not sure if this is a good idea.
If you have busted stuff inside, it could kill you.
A spine fracture feels the same way, you can't breath for a while. I have had that happen twice.

Like others have said, pre ride or go slow in unknown places, never over ride your sight lines, street or dirt.

I took a fall that was not as bad as that on some sandy whoops, and managed to break my clavicle, scapula, 5 ribs front and back, collapse a lung, tore my spleen, and fractured my spine, all at once!
If I took a fall like yours, I would be dead or worse.

Lucky for me, I did that dumb shit when very young and got away with most of it.

Loving the WR, looks like a hoot, and I guess its hard to resist twisting the throttle.

Man,

Glad you're okay, heal fast, that was an intense video though, good "lesson" learned for others to watch.

You coulda totally ridden that drop off out.. you mightve ran into the other jump face, but that would sure beat a 5-7 foot dead drop. Im glad you're OK, for the most part! Those 'no-see-ums' will mess you up if you let 'em!

OMG, what a crash... The sound you made after are enough to stick in memory for a long time and make one be more careful. Its not all bad though, you will ride again and the bike was not damaged
