Saw this guy parked outside the building where I was staying in Brooklyn on Broadway a block from the Williamsburg bridge. The doorman said the owner lived in the building and owns some other "old BMWs". Anybody we know?

Thanks for providing some welcome relief to having to watch all the hipsters posing on their fashion accessory hardtail xs650 bobbers. Brooklyn is painful.

Steel Blue Airhead bright yellow helmet.

Saw you today on my way home from work at 5:35pm today in Atlanta. Heading South on Northside at the North Ave. intersection. Too far away and no time for a pic. and proper bike model identification but it looked similar to this without the fairing and what looked like silver (unpainted) valve covers

Driving by Derby Reach in Langley BC. Spotted a gorgeous bumblebee r100gs... so I stopped and had a wonderful 1/2 hour conversation about the wild hops growing on the side of the road and his great bike. The next day while browsing the forums I read a post by someone posting about his gs that matched the description. A little detective work and I was pretty sure it was the same bike. PM the poster and sure enough SAME person! True story.

R50/5 at White's Mercantile in Nashville

Was riding by White's Mercantile on 12 South today and saw this red R50/5. As I have a black R50/5 I stopped to find the kindred spirit who owns this one. That's mine there next to it.

The folks at the store said it had been parked there overnight and they had no idea whose it was.

I've seen some R75/5's around town but we 500cc owners are a smaller group. This one has a Tennessee plate - I wonder who owns it.

Spotted my first airhead on the road today. I'm not totally fluent with models yet, but it was a brown r90 w/ a windjammer fairing. He saw me wave but didnt wave back, looked angry. Maybe it's the hack?

Don't take it personal

Sometimes people don't know why you're waving or honking, etc.

I sometimes hear honking but I don't know who or why. There are vehicles all around and one can't look in each to see what's happening. I'm busy in traffic. So I give a quick look around to make sure it's not a warning. If nothing seems obvious I move on.

White /2 Los Angeles, CA

Not sure where to post the story, but it definitely starts with an airhead.

Short version:
Dover white /2 (I think). The rider was slim, young, wearing jeans, a dark t-shirt and a 3/4 helmet. Watching him ride for a few second as he completed a left turn onto Santa Monica blvd. got me thinking about a relaxed, deliberate, unhurried commute, style of riding. I'm not sure why.

The bike looked something like this.

I walked home thinking, I could ride my BMW the same way.

Later when I was commuting I consciously thought about a relaxed, deliberate attitude.
Like driving a classic car in a way. Fitting and flowing in rather than faster than the current ALL the time. I chose not to split lanes at several opportunities. Sometimes I did.

On my way to work there was a big accident.
Right in front of me. Literally two cars ahead from where I was.

I think that old white BMW saved my life.

Karma?
Not sure... Maybe just paying attention. But to what?

I just thought it was interesting that somehow the random pieces of the day seemed to fit together in the end. Strange...

The longer version of the story is on my R100R thread, if you're interested.
