I've even used overmitts on a motorcycle without ill effect. Lobster gloves sound like they wouldn't be much of a problem.

When riding in the cold, think hard about your baselayer, first and foremost. Heavyweight long underwear and a balaclava can easily add 10 degrees or more to your comfort range. In fact, a balaclava alone can easily add 10 degrees to your comfort range - ask my chilly and larcenous spouse, who stole mine on our mid-October road trip.

20F this morning with flurries. Wore a wool sweater with a windshirt over it, all under my Stich onesie. To keep my hands warm I run my heated grips, wear Held Steve gloves, and have Cee Bailey's Elephant Ears around the handguards to keep the wind at bay. Quite comfy. When it drops into the low teens I'll add the Gerbing's jacket liner.

-16C here (3F). Snow and ice have already made riding a no-go for me :(

I'm seriously thinking about studding the tires on the TW200 and giving it a go on the 'warmer' days, tho!

I just bought a set of Aerostitch studs for my TW200. Rode last year without them and had too many horizontal moments.

I believe I got the 4706 on TKC80 tires. Works well, but you do lose some grip on wet roads. On dry roads they are quite fine.

Don't use too many, and consider that you might not need any on higher lean angles, because you might not want to lean too much on icy roads anyways. On dry roads you have rubber then.

Depends on the planned use.
