Also, GMM pm'd me to say:

"Earlier this year the park service came out with a TN State Park Passport book (like the federal park passport) were you get a stamp at each park visited."

Might be fun to pick one up if you plan to visit several parks over the next few months.

I really hope to participate in this eventually. I have visited many of the Middle Tennessee state parks over the past several years on my bike (the only way to fly down here). Although I am only a part time resident, the Tennessee parks are beautiful.

One interesting thing to note about the South Cumberland unit is that it is composed of 10 different areas stretched over 4 counties. It would be a pretty good accomplishment to visit them all in a day. It is a very scenic area with some natural wonders inside of some great riding.

I can also recommend Standing Stone Park, some more great riding. Clement Salvadori just published a report on Standing Stone Park and Middle Tennessee in "Rider" magazine.

Tennessee does have some great State parks. I'm constantly amazed at how well they are kept up and the many amenities they provide. Several have cabins, hotels and golf courses. I've been to Fall Creek Falls more than any other. It's nice to begin seeing the others.

I'll try to find the Rider Magazine article. It's nicer to have a destination to shoot for when I'm riding.

I hope you get to make some rides and post reports. How often are you in Tennessee?

I'm down here frequently - just about every month. Over the past several years, I have spent about half of my time working in Tullahoma (halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga). I have kept one or more bikes down here during that time and used much of my free time riding and exploring.

I've been to Falls Creek Falls a few times, Rock Island, Tim's Ford is right down the road, Old Stone Fort too. A bunch of others too.

Another really nice place is the Sgt. York homeplace. Definitely worth visiting.

Visited Radnor Lake State Park (http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=843432) and the Bicentenniel Capitol Mall State Park (http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=843412) on Thanksgiving Day.

Aldntn, the Bicentenniel park was everything you said it was and more. I really enjoyed it.
