oh yeah big time! and it's not like she didn't *already* trample me last year in Beginner! I'm sure she's just lulling me into complacency before next month:

too many cute little blond girls

which is a *much* better situation than too many cranky old b-- uh, broads

cheers

ps: I'm sure I'd go practice today except this is our yard this morning:

and if SY looks like this in December, I ain't riding!

A good friend will take you trail riding, an ADV friend will double back and say, "how did you get down there?"

I figured there should be no exceptions give to us just because we chose to come with a bike having a different form of power (ie. not gas powered). I would like to also point out that Hunter rode the intermediate line, all three loops, on one set of lead acid batteries.
Sure wish I knew how to stretch the battery charge like that. I will be bringing the lead-acid sets to swap them out next time, partly because some of the fun and learning of trials occurs on the loop, not just in the sections.

Hunter was riding great!

A few things you might try: 1. Take the batteries as fresh off the charger as close to use as possible and keep them around room temp as long as possible. All batteries are temp sensitive and sla batteries drop voltage more quickly than lipos. So keep the batteries inside if you can.

2. It would seem that most of the drain happens during the "play" before and between sections with lots of tire spinning and wheely's over rocks and logs and such. Try to minimize this and have them ride at a steady pace with a smooth throttle. I told Hunter he had only ten minutes practice time to "warm up" before the event.

3. Check your wheel bearings and chain alignment and dragging brakes. It's not uncommon for the bearings to be tighten too much, or poorly lubed, or the wheel is not well aligned with the chain line to the drive sprocket. Also the disc brakes can drag if the rotor is warped/bent or they have air in them.

4. I would take a volt meter to each battery fresh off the charger and see how close to each other they are in voltage. They need to all be around 13.2v or higher. If not, then charge each individually with a 12v charger as they are out of balance. The BatteryMinder model 1500 is perfect for dealing with these problems as it has a pulse and float charge mode. Charging them when they are out of balance will quickly kill off the strong batteries and greatly reduce capacity. Also, don't leave the charger on longer than 1 hour after the light turns green as it does not have a float mode and will cook the batteries.

And just for comparison, Hunter switched to the back up lipo set at the end of the trial and within one hour of "playing" he had used half of the battery capacity. The lipos will put out about 4 times the energy in total amps as compared to the sla's. So if he had been "playing" with the sla batteries they would likely have been done in 1/2 hr.

In that case, you would also want to see video of Hammer cleaning it. Twice.

Brewtus, I would like you to post a video of Hammer discussing his love of the last two Gassers he has bought in the last year. Make sure that he`s well warmed up on the Bud.
With that in mind, must of been a no-stop ride!

For a no stop kind of guy, you had the LONGEST ride in that section I've ever seen! I watched Big Al ride 2 sections and get in line behind me and you were still in the section with your foot down. ALL DAY DAB!!

I had to ride within the rules that are current. It would not be wise for the clerk to change the sections to rules that we do not use. (YET) Next month I`ll remember to bring a spare beer for such an occasion and drink the whole can while in the section ahead of you with my feet UP!

It's looking like riding at SY on Friday, Saturday and Sunday might take place.

PM Brewtus for details.
