Why, thank you Bogie! It was a damn nice day for a 3-mile loop and some killer sections set by Grizzzly. Careful about giving me grief about my messkin beer, now. I may not share some with you at Sip this year. Wait, who am I kidding? I always share with me bruddahs! Yeah, I blew it at the end of the section. The (nonexistent) wind must have moved the ribbon in...

See you soon!

Al's Bar

I've said many times here on the Trials forum on ADV that NMTA is IMHO one of the best clubs in the country, and I stand by that statement today. One of the many reasons why we are so awesome is that we have been truly blessed over the past few years by a member who is truly dedicated to the club, it's members, and the sport in general. He is always ready to lend a helping hand to riders from Champs down to Beginners, loves to learn from those more skilled than him (very few) and loves to instruct down to those who can barely release the clutch without stalling (such as myself). While we are lucky enough to have numerous great Trials instructors such as B. Bolander, Rob O., Rob H., Lineaway, and Capt. Nemo (just to name a few), this person is ALWAYS out practicing and teaching. I of course am referring to Big Al. Today we celebrate the opening of....

Al's Bar.

A place to come hang out, learn, teach, and in general be with a group of awesome Trials folks. Without heaping undo praise onto Al, he has helped many a NMTA member through everything from tough sections up to moving up through the ranks. Conveniently Al's Bar has locations scattered all around New Mexico, from Sipapu down to Roswell. We all know where we want to go where everybody knows your name (with apologies to CBC for the Cheers ripoff) - Al's Bar -

Lots of customers frequent the establishment -

Al's Bar even has it's own mascot. NMTrailboss is chumming up to her. She let him, even though he did not bring a treat -

From all of us here at NMTA - Thanks Al, for allowing us into your bar.

Of all the cool folks I have met with NMTA, Al has been one the most generous with his time and coaching for the noob!
Well done Brewtus.

A good friend will take you trail riding, an ADV friend will double back and say, "how did you get down there?"

I know I haven't been too active since my last post but I would like to help arrange a trials event in Farmington in 2015. I think there are a few riders from Dolores, Cortez, Durango, Farmington, and Aztec who would participate.

I have been keeping track of areas that I think would be suitable. One area in particular looks pretty sweet. To the west is a slick rock formation that is falling down the hill.

On the east is a nice mellow slick rock slab.

While this area is not right off a paved road I think it would be pretty easy to get to via well service roads.

That area looks awesome and has some good promise!

Is it BLM land? OHV friendly and permit-able?

This is indeed true...Big Al is the man for sure! He's been teaching, coaching and encouraging NMTA riders for many years. Very patient, a great teacher and just a great human being! Thanks for everything you do for all of us Big Al!!

Yes it is BLM. I think it is OHV friendly. We would have to apply for a SRP.

Big Al is one of the main blocks in the foundation of our club. Our club is blessed to have him and so many others that are just full of awesomeness.

Now is not too soon to lay the groundwork with the BLM field office up there. Looks like cool terrain.
