2005 r1200gs parking light bulb?

I have a lamp error and discovered the parking light bulb filament is broken.

Does that need to come from the mother country or can I go to an autozone for the bulb?

Anyone have a chain-store source for the bulb?

When the bulb went out on my 2005, I took it into O'Reilly's and they matched it up. Cost was a buck. Don't ask me the number - it was 2 or 3 years ago.

Is O'Reilly's a BMW dealer or local hardare/auto store? I'm not familiar with that store.

Local dealer is a 50min ride for me or I would just go there.

I think that any W5W from any automotive store will do:

It's a chain of auto parts stores. Must not be nationwide. Around here, similar stores would be AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts.

well it isn't as easy as it should be - on my 2010 at least.

I picked up a pair of PIAA LED wedge bulbs - but they throw up the LAMPF fault code.

back to the drawing board.....

Does anyone here have direct experience of a wedge bulb - that doesn't throw up the fault code - but one that puts out white light (as opposed the the stock bulb's candle flame orange)

just in case anyone might be following this thread - I've checked in with our friends at 1offmotorsports - and they are currently looking into a solution.

When you've upgraded to HID's - the orangey flame parking lamp, just doesn't quite make the grade.

When I find out more - I'll post again - Mr Bull

Try any local autoparts store. They'll have a replacement. Take the OE lamp in and show them....about ~$1.00.

I went to the local auto parts store and got a Philips 12961 12v bulb. They come in 2-packs so there's a spare.

I tried one of those eBay $1 LEDs from China for my '05 R1200gs, but it didn't fit.

Yikes! Sorry folks - fixed this long ago with a bulb from Autozone. Sorry not to report back that I'm all set. Thanks for the info though.
