Hiya

If you wish to check out the area around where I stay, I've tried to keep a little thread called "South Africans Calling" going with my reports and pics.

It'll give you an idea of the area around where I live as well as other areas in and around the country.

I started it whilst bored with no bike - not that the situation has improved. Got bike and after two months in the garage over Christmas and no way of having it fixed due to financial problems. Life can really suck sometimes - especially when life is really sucking and you can't play around with the one thing that gives you pleasure (ooops, that sentence could be misconstrued )....

Hope you enjoy !!!!

007Brian, that's too bad that the registration isn't working. Hopefully it will open again soon. Let her know we'll wait for her.

Extreme Velcro, thanks for the link I'll check it out. It'll be fun to read. Sorry you're having financial problems and I hope things start looking up for you soon.

My understanding is that it has been disabled until Baldy can get the servers upgraded as we were growing faster than they could keep up.

This is also the reason that you cannot post an attachment.

Keep checking back. We would love to see her here soon.

Talking Another girly ride report

It's summer in NZ, and my friend is learning to ride on gravel for an upcoming trip to the south island, so we went away for a weekend ride, seeing how many interesting gravel roads we could find.

Hello girls

I was flipping through ADV and I thought that I might post a link to my ride report here as sitting in a hotel with no one to talk to on the road (I am riding from Alaska to Argentina by myself as guys seems to clump together) I am feeling a little bit lonely (I am not really one of those people who thrives on their own company).

So if you fancy making my day you can either post a reply on my ride report http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428884

Or put a comment on my blog www.alaska2argentina.com

Happy trails,
Annette

Women commuters.

My wife will be leaving her job in March due to the economy. She's leaving for two reasons. A. I need help in the insurance office. B. If she didn't leave early a single mother would lose her job.

So... my office is 50 miles away. I drive the car to visit clients since it gets 30 MPG. If I'm in the car visiting clients driving 150-200 miles per day she'll have to drive the truck @ 18 mpg.

Lisa is a neat/clean freak. She doesn't want to "stink" or be messed up all day in the office. It's a quick 50 mile ride in the cooler part of the day. A nice private bath that she can freshen up in. Jeans and such are totally OK since our office is in a rural setting.

What tricks of the trade have you wimmen commuters used to be "presentable" when working in a semi-professional environment?

She has a F650GS and has been "sorta" riding since Jan. 08. 60 mpg would sure beat 18.

I wear "business casual" every day to work. I throw on my aerostitch over my clothes and keep a pair of shoes at my desk. I have never come to work feeling out of place.

Oh, and my hair is about as boring and straight as you can get, so there's no worry about helmet hair....

Wink As a teacher...

As a teacher this can be tricky for me at times. I've even worn nice, dressy slacks with my MC armored pants over them, a dress jacket under my armored jacket, and MC Boots. I carry a nice pair of lightweight flats in a backpack with me.

When I arrive at school I go into my classroom, take off all the "outerwear," change shoes and put my boots in my closet. Then I gear up again for the ride home.

The only real concession I make in safety gear is I don't wear the cheekpads in my full face helmet when I'm wearing makeup.
