Great advantage of being a girl on a bike.

It's amazing how strong preconceptions can be. It's a while back now and was in the UK, but my pillion (a bloke) and I were seen getting off my bike as I had parked in a fire exit by mistake and were asked to move the bike. Fair enough too. The bit that got up my nose was that it was my pillion was asked to move the bike, not me!!!!! I used to get that sort of thing happen all the time in the UK. On the other side, if ever I lost it and droped the bike, there was always someone who rode or had ridden, offering me assitance of some sort and bikers all waved to each other. Don't get so much waving to each other in Australia, don't know why and I wave or nod any way.

It's been awhile

Hi! I posted awhile ago, I think back when I was waiting for my 800GS to arrive. In the last year, I've put over 12K miles on that GS on the road, the dirt, and wherever...

It's been everything I wanted it to be and more and even as I lurked these many months, many of the women riders here on ADV inspired me to keep going.

Thank you.

Hey fellow lady riders! I finally got around to posting my newbie rider thread here if you are interested in reading a humorous account of my struggles and triumphs with starting on a bigger bike.

Had my 650GS loaded in the back of the pickup - for what reason, I can't remember now - and stopped at a gas station for some fuel. I get out, pull out the pump, start fueling when I notice this guy looking at my bike.

Him: "Nice bike!"
Me: "Yeah, I like it."
Him: "What is it?"
Me: "BMW 650"
Him: "Oh. Sweet. Is it yours?"
Me: "Nahhhhh... just hauling it for a friend." *said with complete sarcasm which was totally lost on him.*
Him: "Yeah, it's too much bike for you."

I left the gas station laughing my ass off.
Reminds me of a story I have.............
I was at a stop light, on my little Blue R6. There was a pick up truck parked next to me in the other lane. Three guys in the cab (all coming home from work). They are looking at me kind of funny. Maybe they thought I stole it from my boyfriend or something.

Anyway the driver has his window down and I have my face shield up so I ask him "does your girlfriend have one of these"?

He says "no".

I say "dump her" the ight changes and I do my best Ben Spies impression and zoom away as the light turns green.

I'm really enjoying reading all the stories & posts!
Beckstatic, I'm living vicariously thru you! Our bikes are all in hibernation for the winter up here.
Last summer when stopped for a coffee on a ride up north, this guy rider kept asking over & over do you really ride alone?? I couldn't believe it!
Yah, gals can't ride all by their lonesome selves.
