my home/yard is always open to travelers. Just shoot me a pm if you are close to Asheville, NC and I can put you up, make you a home cooked meal with a few beers, and a washing machine ...

As is mine if you are traveling through the north Idaho panhandle. We have 5 acres in the woods, a guest room, and a kitchen so you won't have to "rough" it. Send me a PM if you are planning on heading this way!

Thanks Cuttle.
Funny you live in Asheville, it is one of the places on my list. Supposedly Asheville is THE most new age town in the US. I have to go and check it out. I'll sens you a PM when I'm in the neighborhood

Thanks Gypsy_Writer. I just might go over Idaho. Not sure yet when, but I shall let you know.

Ours is open if you make it to central Minnesota. We have a spare room or lots of tent space, a shop and tools if repairs are needed.

My kids have flown the coop, and I finally find myself able to live my dream :)
At the moment I am prepping my "Year around the US" tour, buying all the "necessities" and toys.
I have a KLR650 and am getting her road ready. Building my own panniers seeing as the ones I like are about $800 and that's just a tad too much for me LOL.
Bought a GPS just in case but not sure if it will actually help other than well me which way is North, which my compass will also do. Bought a great tent (Eureka Mountainpass 2XTE) with 2 vestibules for my junk, and a very warm sleeping bag.
Bought a couple of older free campsites books and hope to be able not to waste money on theses ridiculously expensive campsites. Paying 8 bucks once in a while is fine, but $22 for a night? Might as well get a Motel.
Buzzed my head for travel convenience, and bought male riding gear so I wouldn't attract unwanted attention. May sound silly, but I am more worried about men than bears. LOL
I am excited to hit the road in June, will post pics and such.
I haven't been on ADV for quite some time, but do get daily updates for some old threads like "Any women riders?" We're incredibly lucky to have this ongoing thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149585 We're post #79. Congrats on your upcoming.

Thanks for the invite everyone!
I'm taking the laptop, so I'll keep you posted where I am.
My plan is to ride for a year, and follow the warm weather.
Hopefully I'll find seasonal work along the way, like apple picking etc. I used to do this when I was younger.
