yet another female ADVer
G'day from another ADV noob
I live in Sydney Australia, have a rapidly aging 1999 Yamaha TDM850 and am currently in the market for a 650 single (DR/KLR or similar) so I don't kill the TDM on some of the more rugged trails. I've been riding for just over 20 years, and while I know quite a few other female riders, they're all strictly 'bitumen only' girls and are unwilling to get down and dirty. Most of my riding has been on paved roads - including an (almost) circumnavigation of Oz on my old BMW K100RT, and 6 weeks intense touring around western Europe on a friends borrowed TDM850. I've finally found time, and the inclination, to follow the roads and trails less travelled. I'm a fairly competent road rider, I just need to get skilled up a little for tackling rough and rugged tracks and deeper water crossings. I think a few day trips with some of the Aussie lads will have me jumping logs and axle deep in mud in no time. Can't wait

Hiya there Auntie
Riding Oz is one of my fantasies but my pocketbook doesn't provide a correct match :) I guess I could get me a sugar daddy but what fun is it to go to Oz draggin' one with all those Dundee type hardbodies you have running wild there??? |

Well now that I've thought about it, I probably should say more than that. Ok, I've been riding for almost 3 years. Taught myself how to ride a while back on a brand new Yamaha FZ6. Yikes, talk about pressure (not to mess up)! I then took the MSF course with my husband, and we passed with flying colors. In October of this year, I gave my FZ6 to my sister when my silver
'07 BMW F650GS rolled off the boat. I really haven't done any off road stuff. Yet. |

Noob here as well.
Been riding since May 2005. Just picked up a pair of 650GS's. We decided that it would be in the interest of keeping our relationship happy that we get two, instead of clawing eachothers eyes out over who gets to ride the one. Haven't had a chance to do any riding on them, it snowed right after we brought the second one home and temps have been keeping the roads a bit icy. Only dirt riding I have done is some well maintained USFS roads on my Rebel and Breva. And my driveway...... Looking forward to venturing off the beaten path. Dee

How have I missed this thread before? Been spending too much time in the Flea Market!!!
It's good to know there's so many of "us" here! It would be great to have a ladies only (or mostly ) adventure ride.I ride a DR650 for dual sport, but have street bikes and a dirt only bike, too, so I'm ready for anything! Theresa |

well - still been around for a while, and I've still not gone and learned how to ride yet. For some reason, I get this feeling that I like not having to have that pressure of driving. (plus I've learned how to fall asleep on the back, without clanking my helmet into my man's.
)I think he's not pressuring me about it too much - cuz I'm sure he can already see the future of when i do learn. The R1200GS(hope that's right.) is going to be all mine, and he'll be lugging around the paid for K1200LT (well, not too much lugging, we rode the 3's on that sucka and it kicked ass!). I'll want to ride the bikes as much as possible - unless I get the urge to drive our stick shift acura, RSX-S. what can i say, i like getting where i'm going fast. not speeding too much - just beating the pants off everyone around me. (but then i've got to explain away the empty fuel tank after a couple of days. )
