Since Steamboat is at the end (or beginning if you ride it the other way) of the COBDR route http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/COBDR we are looking for 1 or 2 persons (indv. or as group leader) who might want to ride the COBDR from the 4 corners to the rally (or leave the rally and ride to the 4 corners).

We'll provide a COBDR map and DVD (there is a free .gpx file to download on the website) and if you blog about it on Ride Reports, we'll provide an nice additional map package as a huge thanks.

What we want is some reports so others can see how to prepare and what it is like to ride a Backcountry Discovery Route. The more info there is about these, the more comfortable people are to attempt the route.

I am planing on this but I have a question to someone from Co.! This time frame will be during Archery&Black Powder big Game season , either ethically or by regulation will any trails or primitive roads be off limits? Would like to plan some rides ahead of time .

I've never heard of a road/trail closure in Colorado for any hunting season. I've been hiking/riding/wheeling these trails for 30+ years.

For the most part these areas are fairly well separate. I've never even come across hunters.

The archery season is pretty low key around here. Never has been any closures due to hunting seasons. 2nd season rifle is when you don't want to be in the woods around here. Lots of crazies with alcohol to go with the guns!!

This is a low key hunting season. I've never seen any roads closed. Good plan time-wise to explore the state prior to the rally as those 1st 2 weeks in Sept. are just awesome in Colo

At this time they have saved the space for us to keep all the motorcycles together, in hopes that the entire Island would be booked by rally attendees. We want to make sure no small children are scared off by us beastly bikers.....

We have about a month left, before they will open the rest of the island up to campers. They have about 20 spots reserved so far with mixed tent and cabin users. If you would like a cabin, there are some riders willing to share. Contact the campground or post your request up here to find someone willing to split a cabin or site.

We've got some great people in the industry willing to help out with this Mini Rally and answer your bike touring/setup related questions. This is OPEN to ALL riders. If you are new to moto camping/ just picked up a bike this season/ or have been camping for years, I have a good feeling that this event will be worth coming to. I'll have more info in May as I work though the growing details. (We are moving our home and shop now, so I've had to set this on the back burner for a little bit.)

This will be a fun time for all those that love 2 wheels!
