I could have chemo and radium treatment for her, but even with that the prognosis was maybe as long as 15-16 months, at worst 2 months. I lost my sister to lung cancer and having seen what the treatment does to people I truly wouldn't put put a dog through it.
She'd been fine until the day before, since when she'd gone downhill very quickly. My wife was going to take her to the vets to be put down but I didn't feel it was fair to ask her to go alone and I'd be there in a few hours.
I got home every late on the Friday night and the dog was asleep and doped, so my first task on the Saturday was to take my faithful pal to her death. It's still hard to think about it.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

that's odd - there doesn't seem to be any cell phone towers or windmills on top of any of those mountains. I guess all the people that live around there must be rich. NIMBY!

This is one I don't thinK Rod has seen yet. Took it a day before I met up with Walter & Terry. I know he misses that pup. I know that just being around Djinn for the few weeks that I was, made me miss her!

She was feisty & fun even very close to the end. Rod...give Rowen a pat for me.

@Rod, so sorry to hear of your sister and pup. :(
I just lost my bro to lung cancer last month and a few years ago my puppy to anal sac cancer.
My heart goes out to you in this difficult time.

@Walter and company, fantastic report.
Thank you all for sharing your great adventure stories in such beautiful terrain and in good company.
I look forward to the DVD.

Ha...same here. In every pic I'm checking out the rivers for the best line!
I do that on every RR. Maybe we need to organize an ADV ride(motorcycles) and run(the river) trip to the region.

As everyone else has said, I too check this RR everyday. Thanks again (everyone on the trip) for taking the time to post up!!!
I know it is time consuming.

Truly jaw dropping scenery

That valley looks spectacular, it's going on the "To Do" list.

Thanks for sharing and keep it coming! I'm enjoying the input from all the group.
